The Cycle of Infection
Step 1 Browse through medical or popular journals (health and fitness magazines, women’s
magazines, science magazines, etc.) and write a brief abstract (summary) of an article
that describes a disease you find interesting.
Step 2 Create a “Cycle of Infection” poster on a separate sheet of paper, similar to
Figure 9-1 in the text, but adding notations that identify the following
factors within the cycle of infection, as it applies to the specific disease you
chose in Step 1:
∙ Infectious organisms
∙ The reservoir of infection
∙ The susceptible host
∙ Transmission of disease
