You have an outcome oriented athlete, Terry, who is injured early in the season. Unfortunately, the injury is pretty severe and Terry will miss at least half of the season. Based on our discussion of goal orientations, how do you think Terry will respond to the injury psychologically? How motivated will he/she be through the rehabilitation process?
Given that you can address this issue from multiple angles, I would create a list of reasons why Terry would be motivated (bullet list) and then a list of the reasons why he/she wouldn’t be (bullet list).
Then look at your list of reasons—is there a “higher order” theme that the individual reasons would fall under? In other words, is there a larger theme that would impact Terry’s motivation.
