Welcome to the negotiation table for the representatives of GTechnica or AccelMedia. You should use this discussion board for all of the communication between the two of you in this negotiation.
The scenario for this simulation is a negotiation between a supplier of electronic components and a computer hardware maker over the price of a processor needed for the manufacture of a computer graphics accelerator adapter. The role-play information you will be given by your instructor provides details about the context of the negotiation that may help you to understand the situation, develop a bargaining strategy, and form arguments or demands to implement that strategy. Ultimately, however, how well you do in this negotiation is determined by the final sale price for the part, if you are able to reach an agreement. When you read your role information and are preparing to negotiate, keep these guidelines in mind:
Overview
This activity is a distributive negotiation in a business context with a single issue: the price of a processor component for graphics accelerator cards that are manufactured by GTechnica (seller) and needed by AccelMedia (buyer). The negotiation will be focused on one issue: a sale price for the processor. You will be a representative of GTechnica or AccelMedia.
Each role should read through their confidential information posted in M2 Discussion Question 2: GTechnica–AccelMedia Negotiation Role Assignment carefully. Do not share the information on the sheet with anyone. (If you have questions, ask your professor or facilitator through a private Canvas message.) When you are ready, you may contact the other role via this group discussion board.
You should begin your interaction no later than Thursday at 11:59pm. Your negotiation will close, whether you have reached an agreement or not, on Saturday at 11:59pm.
This discussion forum will be used to assess if you participated fully in the role-play activity and if you utilized negotiation skills as presented in the beginning modules of the course.
Recommendation: If both parties are willing and able, conduct the negotiation in real-time video. Upload your video to this discussion forum for your instructor to review. You may also send video negotiations back and forth asynchronously instead of using written text in the discussion forum. You can also post your video to another similar video platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo and post a link in the discussion.
