Follow the rule 3X3 paragraph
Part 1:
The patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is an American law passed in March of 2010. The primary goal of ACA is to provide universal health insurance coverage by facilitating cooperation among employers, citizens, and the government (Isola & Reddivari, 2022). ACA can promote the creation of state health insurance “exchanges” that allow employers and individuals to select health insurance options that are eligible for federal subsidies in accordance with state and federal regulations (Isola & Reddivari, 2022).
The pros of ACA is that is can increase to care for diabetics, patients suffering from trauma, and patients requiring emergency surgery (Isola & Reddivari, 2022). Also there was a reduction in in-patient hospitalization due to Medicaid expansions covering ambulatory care under the ACA, which can be cost saving for the health care system (Isola & Reddivari, 2022). It has also increased the insurance coverage in young adults with cancer (Isola & Reddivari, 2022).
ACA has helped public health nurses to integrate primary care with broader public health, prioritize preventative health care and coordinate care more efficiently with other providers (Isola & Reddivari, 2022).
With the ACA, preexisting conditions allowed those to get coverage on any preexisting coverage, which was difficult before ACA (Roland, 2019). Also ACA covers many screenings and preventive services and healthier consumers will lead to lower costs over time (Roland, 2019). Lastly, prescription drugs cost less and has become affordable. According to a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services press release from 2017, Medicare beneficiaries have saved over $26.8 billion on prescription drugs under Obamacare (Roland, 2019).
Part 2:
Many people will have to pay higher premiums due to insurance companies now providing a wider range of benefits and cover people with preexisting conditions (Roland, 2019). In addition, a person can be fined if they do not have insurance. The goal of ACA is for people to be insured year round, so if a person is uninsured and does not have an exemption, they can pay a fine (Roland, 2019).
The taxes can go up due to passing the law to help pay for ACA, this includes taxes on medical devices and pharmaceutical sales (Roland, 2019). Some people are not too fond for a the government to have them get health insurances. In technical terms, the ACA website had technical issues when it launched and made it difficult for people to enroll and lead to further delays and lower-than-expected signups (Roland, 2019).
As mentioned before, ACA stipulated that individuals could no longer be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions and ended lifetime limits on coverage (Serakos & Wolfe, 2016). As a result, this can cause the people to pay higher premiums which can be costly depending on the family circumstances. In addition, the taxation of not receiving insurance can cause issues among the general public.
Part 3:
ACA has given those a chance to receive medical condition and even helped those with pre-existing conditions get the proper treatment. It has allowed those to get proper screenings and even preventive services, which is beneficial for those that are at risk of developing any disease. It can grant people to have a quality life and help reduce future health cost.
Although, there are benefits of having ACA, I know there can be some concerns regarding it. Having to pay higher premium for those that already have health insurance can cause a financial strain on the budget. Also having to be taxed if you do not have health insurance, which is unfair to those that can chose whether or not to be insured.
Also, since this is something that can be applied online, it can be at a disadvantage to those that are older or not having a form to enroll. The technical issues will be a barrier to those that wish to enroll and can affect the obtaining the insurance. If these certain barriers can be fixed, then it could be possible to have healthcare for those that are in need.
