Ethical issues can arise at any time during nursing care. Many times, nurses in an advanced practice role are called on to assist with issues that are ethically challenging. In your paper, analyze the following ideas:
Describe a time in your care when you encountered an ethical dilemma.
Relate how the ethical dilemma was handled and whether you were part of the decision making process. Include any other individuals or teams that were involved and why.
Examine the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. (http://www.nursingworld.org/codeofethics ) Analyze how at least two provisions of the Code of Ethics might apply to your ethical dilemma. Evaluate whether knowing the Code of Ethics would have helped you during your dilemma.
Conclude how you might deal with a similar ethical dilemma in the future and whether you will change your approach to this type of dilemma should you encounter it in the future.
