NIC stands for nursing intervention classification which is classification that describe intervention nurses perform for patients. These interventions are used to improve patient outcomes. This is incorporated into all patient health systems. Hebda et al. (2019) says there are 7 domains of NIC that include: Physiological: Basic, Physiological: Complex, Behavioral, Safety, Family, Health System, Community. This impacts healthcare for each patient because it helps put interventions in place to provide better care for each patient. Nursing outcomes classification is the classification of patient outcomes from nursing interventions. This can be implemented into charting systems to evaluate the good or bad outcomes. Larijana et al. (2019) discusses the “The NNN System” which is when the patient has a problem and the nurse identifies the diagnosis then puts in place an intervention then the outcome is evaluated. The system links NANDA with NIC and NOC. Having NIC and NOC in place has affected healthcare in positive way. After finding a problem with a patient and putting into place an intervention soon after helps decrease negative outcomes. Evaluating patient outcomes helps staff determine if the intervention that was put into place is working if something else is needed. Placing these system in a charting systems helps flag interventions needed for each individual patient before a problem has started. I believe without these two systems there would be a lot more negative outcomes in patients.
