Professors Syllabus Directions For Assignment Needed: Students will select a play therapy technique (Mine is Clay Therapy**) (which is not discussed in asynchronous) and provide a 5-8 minute demonstration of that technique to their classmates during the Week 5 live session. Students will also provide and prepare a brief handout about the technique which outlines instructions on how to implement the technique, what population and treatment problem/diagnosis the technique is intended and any cultural considerations in the application of the technique. Each technique can only be presented once. Students will sign up for a technique during week 2 of the class.
My Personal Directions For Assignment Needed: This assignment HAS to be done using the Clay Therapy I was assigned which is (Clay Play Therapy). I added 5 Speaker notes. Please use part of the speaker notes to write the handout needed for this assignment and then use the other part of the speaker notes to go along with the presentation slides as actual speaker notes. If you need more I can add more. You can use 2 speaker notes for the presentation notes and the other 3 for the handout, or 3 for the speaker presentation notes and 2 for the handout. However, you decide it fits best to get the information out in the best possible way. I also only added 6 slides since it is an 8 min max presentation, although if you need more slides I can add that on as well. As for the assignment being about Clay Therapy, I can give you some information that will help you in doing this assignment. You can discuss Clay therapy in multiple ways; for the demonstration part of this assignment; similar to the draw therapy technique you might say that a therapist could ask a child to make figures of each person in their family. Then the therapist would maybe then go about asking the child to place family members in relation to each other. This could tell the therapist who the child feels closest to or farther from subject to his emotions.
This is just one idea, you do not have to use it, since it is a large assignment you can have multiple ideas for each topic written out in the Professor’s directions above for the handout and the demonstration.
Also, children can have many types of issues you can choose from such as Trauma/PTSD, fears, family issues, behavioral, grief, physical-sexual & emotional abuse, social skills, anxiety and or depression, and many more when choosing something for this assignment.
There are several goals in play therapy such as gaining responsibility, creating strategies for success, problem-solving skills, social and relationship skills, self-efficiency, confidence, acceptance, learning, and many more when describing the goals for Clay Therapy.
This IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN DOING THIS ASSIGNMENT-PLEASE NOTE WHICH TYPE OF PLAY THERAPY THIS IS: THERE ARE TWO: EITHER DIRECTIVE OR NON-DIRECTIVE.
