This week we will be looking at our risk and determining which ones are more likely to happen and do we have enough resources to respond to them. For your assignment you will conduct a hazard and vulnerability assessment on an organization of your choice. If you are employed in a healthcare agency, this has most likely already been done and you can use their HVA as the “talking points” for this assignment. You can have the option of conducting a HVA on your home and its location if you choose.
You will submit your hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) document here with your 1-page paper. Kaiser Permanente has done the hard work. You are provided with the assessment tool and the instructions through the link below.You need to complete your form related to the hazard you are assessing. Note you will most likely choose Natural Hazards, but you do have the option of choosing Human-Related, Technologic, Hazardous, etc. hazards. You will explain in a short 1 page paper why you rated your top 3 hazards/emergencies the way you did. There are no right or wrong answers, just what you think is the worst.

YOU ONLY NEED TO FILL OUT THE HVA FOR THAT HAZARD, NOT THE OTHER ONES SUCH AS NATURAL, HUMAN, HAZARDOUS, ETC. I NEED THE DOCUMENT FOR THAT AS WELL AS THE SUMMARY IT WILL PROVIDE ONCE THE HAZARD SECTION IS FILLED OUT. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE PROVIDED IN THE LINK ON HOW TO FILL IT OUT AS WELL AS THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD THE HVA SHEET. IT WILL BE AN EXCEL FILE. MAKE SURE YOU INPUT THE COMPANY NAME, AGAIN MINE IS APPLE. THE ONE PAGE PAPER WILL BE A SUMMARY OF THE ANALYSIS AND THE TOP 3 EMERGENCY EVENTS THAT WERE RANKED FOR THAT HAZARD AND WHY YOU THINK THEY WERE RANKED THAT WAY. THE FORM ALREADY INCLUDES THE EVENTS SO YOU JUST USE THOSE, NO NEED TO ADD OR MAKE UP ANY. PLEASE PROVIDE AT LEAST 3 SCHOLARLY SOURCES IN APA FORMAT TO SUPPORT YOUR REASONING, PREFERABLY ONE FOR EACH EVENT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
