You must provide an initial discussion question by the due date each Week.
You must also respond to one of your Classmates’ initial postings by the set due date each Week.
All participation in discussions must be complete for credit by the set due date.
Late discussion posts will have points deductions if posted after the set due date.
Respond in one of the following ways:
Ask a probing question.
Share an insight from having read your peer’s post.
Offer and support an opinion.
Validate an idea with your own experience.

In addition to one initial post, respond to at least one peer.
Initial Post Length: minimum of 200 words.
Secondary Post Length: minimum of 150 words per post.
Using APA format, incorporate appropriate in-text citation(s) and corresponding references page for the initial post.

Why were the psychoanalytically-based explanations of autism, such as those of Bettelheim and Mahler, taken seriously in the 1950s and 1960s? Why have psychoanalytic/psychotherapeutic approaches to understanding autism (see, for example, Tustin, 1981/1995, 1991) continued to have a role in treating children and adults with ASD and supporting their families?
