Profile Analysis Guidelines – EPQ
Overview
The Profile Analysis is intended to provide greater self-awareness through interpreting the results of a self-assessment tool and using it to analyze your own behavior. This analysis will serve as the basis for an action plan for improving your negotiating effectiveness. It fits the application and analysis aspects of Bloom’s learning taxonomy.
Formatting requirements
The format is the same as the MDI profile analysis. The paper is to be 3 – 4 pages, single-spaced, block format, 12 point font Times Roman, well proofread, and organized. I would strongly advise effective use of formatting, white space, headings, and concise, focused paragraphs to enhance the paper’s focus and flow. The easier the paper is to digest the better the score.
Profile Analysis content:
For the assigned profile:
1) Draw the Ethical Position Questionnaire Chart (looks like a plus sign) and label the axes and the 4 quadrants. You do not need to define the quadrants or the I and R dimensions. Plot your scores in the appropriate location.
2) Interpret what these scores say about your approach to managing conflict.
1. a) Do you have a strong orientation (more extreme scores on both dimensions 1-3 or 7-9)? Discuss how that is a dominant approach you use.
2. b) Or, do you have more mid-range scores (4-6) thus tending to have a preferred approach yet may consider things or shift to the perspective of the neighboring quadrant?
3. c) Is there a pattern in which more core issues are examined with one orientation and less core issues (values) are examined from a different perspective?
4. d) Other observations if any…..
3) State whether you agree or disagree with the assessment.
4) Provide (a) specific personal example(s) to support your agreement or disagreement. This should NOT be a simple restating of the definition. It needs to tell a who, what, how story. You may use the in –class activity (“The Cheating Case”) or, better yet, use this to analyze how you are handling your selected issue for the Problem Analysis Paper.
5) Discuss 2 specific new behaviors and/or ways of thinking that you have identified due to this analysis. This should include examples of/actions on how you plan to implement the new thinking/behavior.
