1) It explores the idea that athletes can be working in hot and cold streaks, maybe even be in a “zone”. Introduce this concept to a friend and see what they believe. Then, present the scientific findings and see if they are convinced. I suspect that their own intuition will be well-supported by past events that they can recall easily and presenting scientific findings may do little to persuade such a strong belief. Please, then discuss very briefly and try to use terms from the chapter explaining what you found. If sports isn’t something you feel comfortable with, you can discuss the perception of random events in some other arena (i.e. gambling, stock market).
