CASE STUDY: 79 year old female with a past medical history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and coronary artery disease presents with her daughter who is complaining of progressive confusion that has been worsening over the past 6 months. She is experiencing cognitive and memory issues with behavioral and emotional changes. She has been having issues with performing ADLs and personal hygiene. She has become more argumentative, has poor concentration, and impaired judgement. Physical exam reveals cognitive impairment, recalls 1 of 3 objects on the Minicog, and a clock draw test score of 4.
