Use the ACNS Standardized Critical Care Terminology to describe the EEG sample below. Use section A (EEG Background) of the reference chart and the LASET BS and BA Reporting document to help you form your answer (you do not need to fill out the LASET worksheet- it is just a guide). You do not need to comment on reactivity, state changes, or CAPE since we are working with a single screenshot. You also do not need to comment on voltage since we have no measurement tools on a screenshot. I don’t expect perfection- this is an exercise in practicing analysis and description using the correct terminology.
Here are some examples of complete descriptions:
The EEG shows burst-suppression with symmetric generalized bursts of delta- and theta-frequency activity with an average duration of 3 seconds and average interburst intervals of 7 seconds. Periods of suppression constitute approximately 70% of the record. Bursts are not identical nor highly epileptiform and do not contain sharp components. There is no anterior to posterior gradient or posterior dominant rhythm. The EEG is symmetric and discontinuous with approximately 43% of the record consisting of suppression. Periods of suppression have an average duration of 8 seconds. The predominant background frequencies are delta and theta. There is no discernible anterior to posterior gradient or posterior dominant rhythm.
