Please describe why you want to be a student in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School

Please describe why you want to be a student in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing along with a brief statement describing your career goals as a nurse
After months of searching for the best-accelerated nursing program, I finally found the one that would work best for me at this point in my life which is the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. I would love to become a student there because they offer a program that allows you to not have to move out of state an you can receive your degree online even though two on-site visits are mandatory which, is doable you don’t have to stop your everyday life and figuring out housing and how things may work out when you relocate. I get to have my support system nearby me while I go through this rigorous program. I’ve always been one to care for others; ever since I was a little girl. After years of observing how nurses would interact with patients, I fell in love with the overall profession. From their awe-inspiring determination to their profound kindness; they are true heroes. Not to mention, how they would make me feel every time we crossed paths. From simply remembering my face to following up on my personal life–I can’t recall a dull moment. It meant a lot to know I was not viewed as “just another patient” but as a PERSON. This is the same feeling I’d like to reward others. With all we are enduring as a nation currently…it is given. My career goal as a nurse is to become a labor and delivery nurse, get a few years of experience and then return to school to become a women’s health nurse practitioner. The maternal mortality rates for Hispanic and African American women are extremely high compared to non-Hispanic women. I want to be able to be that voice and listen to women when they say something does not seem right with their bodies during pregnancy or while in labor.
