I am Streptococcus pyogenes, a Gram-positive coccus bacteria that is responsible for a variety of infections in humans, including strep throat, scarlet fever, and impetigo. I can also cause more serious infections, such as pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis.

I am a highly adaptable microorganism and can survive in a variety of environments, including the human body. Once I have invaded the body, I typically travel through the bloodstream and settle in a specific tissue or organ. My favorite place to reside is in the throat, where I can easily spread to others through coughing and sneezing.

To survive in the human body, I must be able to evade the host’s immune system. I do this by producing a variety of toxins and enzymes that can damage the host’s cells and suppress the immune response.
