Dolores faced multiple challenges, she suffered multiple threats of violence when she was violently beaten by police officers while she was in San Francisco peacefully boycotting grape companies, she suffered life threatening injuries like internal bleeding and several broken ribs.
After her recovery Dolores decided to turn her attention to women’s issues. I also believe a challenge that the UFW faced was that they weren’t getting the recognition they were hoping to get and short term union contracts and the lack of federal legislation affecting the progress of the union. The UFW was able to overcome these issues with the help of Dolores Huerta she helped by negotiating thousands of labor contracts to provide farmworkers with better pay and working conditions.
