Group Observation Assignment
Purpose: Every individual is involved in a variety of groups across their lifespan. It is important for the nurse to understand group process and be able to determine when groups are functioning well or when groups need assistance in their functioning. A key component of the plan of care for many individuals diagnosed with mental illness is participation in group therapy or group work. The assignment is designed to give students the opportunity to observe and analyze group function. Use table 34-3
Requirements: During the course of the student’s clinical rotation they will be expected to attend group sessions. This could occur in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. The student is to complete the Group Observation Assignment on one group session that the student attends. The Group Observation Assignment form is available on Canvas.

The second section, I accompanied the rehabilitation group. It was enriching experience. The first psychologist came and asked some questions to the patients. The main question was what are the necessary daily habits for you. After that, we distributed papers containing a list and a check of the habits that you do continuously, sometimes, or rarely. This activity made the patients talk and share their opinions comfortably. Then they took a 15-minute break. After the break the second Psychologist came. We’ve done another activity called Talk About the Things You like about your self from A to Z. Their answers amazed me and I shared mine with them. I felt from their answers that they had great hope.
