During week five, we will be expanding on social determinants of health and examining power dynamics at play in public policy processes and the implications for health equity. Your reading assignment, Power and the People’s Health (Friel et. al., 2021), will lay the foundation for this week’s assignment. After completing your reading assignment think about examples in your neighborhood, county, or state that demonstrate how public policy has caused implications for health equity. Write a two-to-three-page APA-style paper identifying and explaining the public policy impacting health equity. Reflect on how the policy could be amended, updated, or replaced to support health equity. Be prepared to discuss your findings during our week 5 class discussion.
