This is a good example of using an environmental scan to make decisions regarding an organizational mission and vision statement. And, while this likely helped the organization to refine these statements it really didn’t involve the type of decision-making necessary for strategic planning for a healthcare organization. In my experience, healthcare scanning supportive to strategic planning decision-making is comprehensive and evaluates community and usually involves conducting both a SWOT and PEST analysis for the organization.
