Assignment Description

Part 1 Write about an instance of prejudice to which you were a witness. Try to explain the person’s behavior without using dispositional attributions (i.e., try not to say it was because they are simply a bad person). Instead, think about ways their environment may have worked to create their attitudes or led to their behavior. Your post should be at least 7 sentences.
I want us to practice this skill by thinking of an experience you’ve had with prejudice. The incident you choose does not need to be prejudice directed at you. Any prejudice you have witnessed is acceptable. For this exercise, I want you to think about why they may hold those attitudes. This works best if you already know the person. If it was a stranger, you may have to guess a bit. Part 2 Write about a person you were attracted to and why you were interested in them. You should discuss what aspects of your attraction to this person were similar to what we discussed in class and what aspects were different. Your post should be at least 7 sentences. My hunch is that you likely were able to relate to many of these. For this discussion, I want you to write about a person you were attracted to. This does not necessarily have to be an example of romantic attraction, but I think romantic attraction is probably the easiest to write about. Also, you can choose a person with any relationship to you. I think it will be fun if we have different types of relationships in the discussion.
