Nurses care for patients across the broadest of socioeconomic continuums. It is critical that nurses understand the financial burdens that patients face that may affect their ability to care for their health care (and/or the health of the family). This exercise helps the student to understand how complicated financial management can be for individuals living paycheck-to-paycheck. Directions:
Take part in the Spent activity at SPENT (playspent.org)go through it several times to see if you can “beat” the game of living on $1000 per month. The scenario changes with each answer.
