There were four lists of words for each participant to memorize. They had 2 minutes to memorize them while either Condition A: Sitting down or Condition B: Exercising. After the memorization task they had 2 minutes to write down as many words as they could remember. We then averaged the number of words they remembered correctly across the two conditions in Excel and compared them with a repeated measures t-test in VassarStats.
The order of the conditions was A B B A. This was a within-subjects reverse counterbalanced experimental design in which each participant served as their own control.
