The stage of adolescence opens up a whole new world of future possibilities, adventures, and challenges. For most teens, the transition into puberty, coupled with a lack of independence produces a confusing mix of intense emotions. Teens begin to imagine the life they want for themselves and form beliefs about how to get there. Some teens use this time to find their identities, make friends, and plan for the future. Others struggle with feeling overwhelmed, depressed or apathetic, making them vulnerable to addictions and other self-destructive or antisocial behaviors.
