Recent data shows that Americans consume, on average, more than three times the recommended levels of sodium per day in their food and beverages. High salt intake contributes to high blood pressure and its complications — stroke, heart attack, congestive heart attack and kidney failure. In fact, thousands of lives could be saved if sodium with high blood pressure. Write a plan to address the concerns about the effect of high sodium intake of health. In preparing for your plan consider the following questions. How might we address this problem in the patient population using a medical model that health care provider might use versus a population health model that a public health official might use? How far can and should governments go in attempting to create a more healthful environment? Intrinsic too many population health policies is the specter of the so called many state. In this case , is it necessary for everyone to be exposed to lower sodium in their bread, in other common foods and in restaurants, so as to protect people who have salt –sensitive illnesses? Should manufactures bear the costs of manufacturing different versions of foods in order to protect the public health? Should they be required to manufacture healthier foods, even if customers prefer the less healthy versions? Or should they be liable if they don’t manufacture healthier foods?

Now that we developed a definition of wellness in the last module, we are turning to how wellness applies to you personally for this week’s discussion. This application could be related to your personal experiences or things you have observed of those around you.

Vaccination can prevent the emergence and spread of disease. It is no surprise that it is a supported public health promotion issue. Many of the diseases targeted by vaccines are childhood diseases that impact the young; hence vaccination can prevent infants, children, and teens from potentially harmful diseases that can even be deadly.
But immunizations are not just for children. Protection from some childhood vaccines can wear off over time. Adults may also be at risk for vaccine-preventable disease due to age, job, lifestyle, travel, or other health conditions.
For this Discussion, review the immunization recommendations for patients across the lifespan. Reflect on how these recommendations might differ for patients who are immunocompromised or on immunosuppressive therapy. Consider how patient factors, such as age group and gender, might affect which immunizations are recommended by nurse practitioners for their patients.
Post a comparison of the differences in immunizations that are recommended for patients ages 11–24, 25–64, and 65 years of age and older. Then, explain how these immunizations might impact patients who are immunocompromised or on immunosuppressive therapy. Be specific and provide examples by age group and gender.
