Louisiana is similar to much of the nation, with only about 20% of children with a mental health disorder receiving care from a mental health provider. Some of the barriers to care include difficulties accessing care and the high cost of care. Approximately 4,000 of the more than 100,000 clinical psychologists in the U.S. are child and adolescent providers.
You are part of an urban children’s hospital work group exploring potential policy options to improve children’s access to mental health care services. Your work group has identified two possible alternatives to the status quo:
1) Increase telehealth services
2) Expand mental health resources in schools.

For this assignment, you will learn how to elicit requirements and data for the successful implementation of the project solution. Write a 500–750-word essay addressing the following:
Discuss the process of identifying subject matter experts needed to gather data and determine requirements.
Evaluate the role of interprofessional collaborative practice and principles of team dynamics when solving a complex health informatics problem.
Describe how project requirements help identify systems needed to obtain data for informatics projects. Example project requirements: SQL database that pulls data from two systems (EHR and billing system). Data visualization reports will be created per stakeholder specifications.

Describe your health care organization’s response to the pandemic or another emergency, was the organization and staff prepared?
The COVID-19 pandemic presented the nation and health care organizations with an unforeseen emergency. Leaders will be faced with many different types of emergency and crisis situations. These types of situations require all health professionals to be leaders in their communities. Review the article here on Crisis Leadership from Interagency Critical Incident Stress Management Program and address the following topics: Describe your health care organization’s response to the pandemic or another emergency, was the organization and staff prepared? Describe the nursing leader’s role in the crisis. Discuss your response to the pandemic or emergency, as a healthcare professional and leader.
HOW TO ANSWER
Healthcare Organization’s Response to the Pandemic or Emergency:
Healthcare organizations typically have emergency preparedness plans in place to respond to various crises, including pandemics. These plans involve:
Risk Assessment: Assessing the potential impact of the crisis on patients, staff, and the organization.
Resource Allocation: Ensuring that the necessary resources (e.g., PPE, ventilators, medications) are available and accessible.
Communication: Establishing clear communication channels for staff, patients, and the community to provide updates and guidelines.
Training: Providing training to staff on emergency protocols, infection control measures, and safety procedures.
Patient Care: Implementing protocols for patient triage, isolation, and treatment.
Continuity of Operations: Ensuring the organization can maintain essential services and support functions during the crisis.
Nursing Leader’s Role in the Crisis:
Nursing leaders play a critical role in managing and responding to crises:
Coordination: They coordinate nursing staff, resources, and patient care activities to ensure a unified response.
Communication: Nursing leaders are responsible for disseminating critical information to their teams and ensuring clear communication among healthcare professionals.
Clinical Expertise: They provide clinical guidance and expertise in areas such as infection control, patient care, and symptom management.
Support: Nursing leaders offer emotional and psychological support to staff members dealing with the stress and challenges of the crisis.
Adaptation: They must adapt to changing circumstances and make quick decisions to address emerging issues.
Response as a Healthcare Professional and Leader:
As a healthcare professional and leader, your response to the pandemic or emergency likely involved:
Adherence to Protocols: Following established protocols and guidelines to protect yourself, patients, and colleagues.
Patient Care: Providing direct patient care, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring.
Staff Support: Offering support and guidance to your nursing team, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their safety.
Adaptability: Adapting to rapidly evolving situations and making decisions based on the best available evidence and guidelines.
Collaboration: Collaborating with other healthcare professionals and departments to ensure a coordinated response.
Communication: Keeping patients and their families informed, addressing their questions and concerns, and providing reassurance.
Self-Care: Practicing self-care to manage stress and maintain your own physical and mental well-being.
In times of crisis, healthcare professionals and leaders must demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to providing the best possible care under challenging circumstances. Effective leadership and teamwork are essential to managing and mitigating the impact of emergencies on patients and communities. -

The following mini video clip is from the 2001 film Wit. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyyGu5OUD-o&feature=youtu.be)
This movie is a based on a play but has a close correlation of what many patients facing a “terminally ill” condition go through. The main character is a teacher that has been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and undergoes extensive treatment. If you haven’t seen the film, I highly suggest you watch it. Again, the movie portrays so many issues within healthcare but overall, how we treat each other, and the role communication plays with each interaction.
I ask that you view each clip in its entirety and they may seem insignificant, but if you really pay attention there is so much to pick up on that aligns with many of the communication concepts, we have covered from Chapters 1-13.
You are to type up a paper that provides an analysis on the mini clip. Your paper should follow the APA requirements along with include the following categories (concepts).
* The following concepts should be included in the case study analysis:
1. Summary of the case.
2. Identify various communication skills seen within each clip(s).
3. Describe environmental and personal factors that contributed to the quality of the communication within the clip(s).
4. Propose a solution to improve the communication tactics.
The paper should be between 1-2 pages of text (not including the reference page, which is required). For the reference page you are to have a minimum of 4 supportive credible sources. As a reminder, the credible sources can come from peer reviewed journal articles, government sites, and textbooks.
Sources from blogs, news papers or social media are NOT credible and NOT accepted. The following headings are required: Introduction, Discussion, Conclusion, Reference and subheadings are allowed to organize your paper. Again, the analysis paper MUST reflect American Psychological Association (APA) publication standards.**If you notice a “title page” was not mentioned, so it is not required.
**no points are deducted if you go over the required # of pages.
