SMART Goa
Introduction
SMART is an acronym used to guide you with personal goal setting. Please view the below video for an explanation of SMART. I have also included a brief explanation of each as a quick reference.
Specific
Your goal should be specific. This means that your goal should be well-defined and clear. Readers of the goal know who the goal is about, what is being accomplished, why the goal is important, etc. Measurable
Your goal should be measurable. This measures how much is needed for success and generally involves some numerical number. It answers questions such as “how much/little” and “how long”. Attainable
Your goal should be attainable (e.g., achievable). This means that your goals are realistic and healthy. For example, saying that you will lose 20 pounds in one week is both unrealistic and unhealthy. In general, less is more when it comes to setting goals. With time, you can change the parameters of your goals that may seem more realistic than they previously had. Relevant
Your goal should be relevant. This means that the goal will be worthwhile to YOU. Make sure that your goal is something that you personally would like to achieve. Time-Bound
Your goal should be time-bound. This is similar to the Measurable component, but specifically involves the “how long” portion. This allows you to more easily determine if you are meeting your goals by certain “benchmarks”.
Your Task
Write 1 SMART goal related to a nutrition goal that you would be interested in working toward while completing the Week 11-14 Dietary Analysis Assignments. Please note that you should only write 1-2 sentences total for this assignment. Examples are provided in the above video.

In order to write a case study paper, you must carefully address a number of sections in a specific order with specific information contained in each. The guideline below outlines each of those sections.

Explain how you will accomplish your nursing goals, and support this with citations (Reference the literature)
Evaluation
Explain how effective the nursing intervention was (What happened after your nursing intervention? Did the patient get better?)

Explain what the patient or nurse should do in the future to continue recovery/improvement
Your paper should be 3-4 pages (of content) in length and will be graded on how well you complete each of the above sections. You will also be graded on your use of APA style and on your application of nursing journals into the treatments and interventions. For integrating nursing journals, remember the following:
Make sure to integrate citations into all of your paper
Support all claims of what the disease is, why it occurs and how to treat it with references to the literature on this disease
Always use citations for information that you learned from a book or article; if you do not cite it, you are telling your reader that YOU discovered that information (how to treat the disease, etc.)

An important part of building evidence-based practice is the development, refinement, and use of quality diagnostic tests and measures in research and practice. Discuss the role of sensitivity and specificity in the accuracy of a screening test? The answer must be at least 400 words with two scholarly references.

-Evidence of the connection between Racism and mental health issues.
In this section you will use evidence to illustrate that the injustice increases the risk for your medical condition. One of the best ways to do this is first find statistics related to your injustice to show that it is a problem. The writing style is formal and must have fluidity. You need a strong introductory sentence that describes what the section will be about but without vague/weak language and is not painted with too broad a brush. You also need transition sentences and summary sentences. Use credible sources in this part because you cannot make up information. The citations will go after the last sentence with information from that source. Each paragraph must have at least ONE in text citation otherwise this is plagiarism. You also need to write formally, meaning NO PERSONAL PRONOUNS (we, our, my or you). This is no place for personal opinions either so the word shouldcannot be used. 1. Delegation is not a new issue in nursing, however, risks associated with such remain of problematic concern. Ineffective delegation of basic nursing care can result in poor patient outcomes, potentially impacting quality measures, satisfaction, and reimbursement for the institution (Bittner N., 2019). Forethought must be given to the potential for harm, and the overriding nursing principle, at first to do no harm when such delegation is required. Appropriate experience levels, both in understanding and deliverance abilities must be weighed. Consideration must be paid to a nurse’s ability to have served in similar capacities in the past. Overwhelming young staff nurses can have devastating effects on their morale. Consideration should also be given to the overall patient population with a mind toward acuity as well. Hospital units are severely understaffed, especially the operating rooms (OR) since it is considered a specialty. Nowadays, many hospitals are implementing a nursing residency program that usually lasts around 9 to 12 months of duration and focuses on different specialties depending on the hospital unit’s demand (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2023). Because of the lack of circulators in the OR, managers are assigning new nurses undergoing the residency after barely 3 months of training to perform duties as circulators, which can be dangerous for the patients due to the lack of knowledge and inexperience in a very stressful environment. I believe this will continue to be a hospital issue since many of the nurses are leaving to pursue nursing travel positions that are well-paid.
2. In a successful healthcare environment, effective leadership plays a crucial role in optimizing patient care and improving efficiency. One habit demonstrated by leaders was their holistic approach to problem-solving. Instead of focusing solely on isolated issues, they analyzed the entire healthcare system, considering how various components and processes interacted. This approach allowed them to identify underlying root causes and devise comprehensive solutions that addressed multiple aspects of the problem simultaneously (Smith et al., 2022). For example, when facing the challenge of reducing patient readmissions, a leader would not only investigate individual patient cases but also explore broader factors such as discharge processes, post-discharge follow-up, patient education, and community support (Smith et al., 2022). By examining the interconnections between these elements, the leader could identify systemic inefficiencies and implement strategies that tackled the problem at its core (Smith et al., 2022). The habits exhibited by systems thinking leaders undoubtedly has a positive impact on patient care and efficiency within the healthcare environment. By addressing problems holistically, leaders could uncover complex issues that would have otherwise remained overlooked. This approach ensured that improvements made were not superficial fixes but long-lasting solutions that truly transformed the care delivery process. Also, by involving all team members in decision-making, leaders created a sense of ownership and commitment among healthcare professionals. This sense of involvement empowered employees to take responsibility for their roles in the system, leading to a more engaged and motivated workforce.
