As Public Health professionals and students, we take under consideration that biases extend beyond race. In your short paper, you will discuss how implicit biases could be a factor here. Also, as future health professionals and citizens you can help break this cycle of unequal treatment. Begin your presentation with a slide that describes an experience or scenario of unequal treatment.question is “Isn’t it likely that instructors and mentors in the health professions will pass along their biases to the next generation of care providers, thereby perpetuating unequal treatment?” (Tobin-Tyler & Teitelbaum, 2019, p. 23).

Choose a recipe, either a personal favorite or one that looks interesting, that you would like to modify. Choose one or more of the following modifications that you would like to make to the recipe:

I would modify first modify the recipe by switching the meat from ground beef to ground turkey. Next, I would use flaxseed instead of egg (flaxseed is a great egg alternative in cooking and baking!). Then, I would opt for nonfat mozzarella and low fat ricotta. The original recipe had approximately 75 grams of saturated fat for the entire dish (18.75 g/serving). With my modifications, the saturated fat would be reduced to 11 grams of saturated fat for the entire dish (2.75 g/serving)!

For this first milestone, you will complete a chart identifying a public health issue that you plan to address for your final project. You will propose a research question to guide your research on your selected public health issue, cite at least one article you have found that addresses your selected public health issue, and briefly explain how this article is relevant to your final project research.

Develop a questionnaire to give to the vendor that includes required information that you would need to help inform your selection recommendation. You need to consider all the information requirements to make an informed decision in comparing the vendors. The following are examples of questions, but these are not all inclusive:What are the vendor’s patient safety and security processes.
Describe the management process for the security of the patient/organizational information obtained and stored by the vendors’ system.
What technical requirements are required such as integrations requirements; battery maintenance and biomedical or calibration techniques that may be required.
What training opportunities are available for customers?
What is your ongoing support and maintenance plan?
Do you provide training for customers?
What costs are associated with your system? Hardware, software, licenses, etc.
Cost Benefit Analysis – Perform a cost-benefit analysis for the proposed system selection by calculating the payback period using Microsoft Excel. At this point in the project, assume you have narrowed your search to three different vendors. (You may submit all three CBAs on one Excel spreadsheet.) Assume the following: Since the hospital does not currently have a falls prevention system, expect that current resource requirements (staffing, extended patient stays and litigation costs) total $475,000 annually.
Vendor 1: System will cost $625,000 year 1; and $355,000 for all subsequent years.
Vendor 2: System will cost $500,000 year 1; and $365,000 for all subsequent years
Vendor 3: System will cost $750,000 year 1; and $300,000 for all subsequent years.
Format the Excel spreadsheet in a professional manner which allows easy comparison between the three vendors.
Determine which vendor’s system will pay for itself first and in which year this will occur. In addition, ascertain which system will be most cost-effective over time.
Compile a list of benefits that may be achieved by the new system. The benefits will be the same for all three systems: you do not need to do this for each individual vendor. This component should be formatted and suitable for submission to the Health Information Technology Steering Committee.

Case Study: Kel
Purpose:Analyze and apply critical thinking skills in the psychopathology of mental health patients and provide treatment and health promotion while applying evidence-based research.
Scenario:Kel is a 42-year-old certified public accountant (CPA) who dreams each year that she will board a cruise ship the day after Tax Day and go somewhere, anywhere, except Portsmouth, Virginia. Each year the dream, like the ocean, ebbs and flows, but this year she is not even going to think about such a “ridiculous idea.” In fact, she does not even have the energy to dream; getting out of bed and preparing to go to work is simply too labor intensive.
Each evening Kel retires to bed with a lack of energy to complete her normal tasks such as readying her clothes for work and making a lunch. She lacks the energy to shop in the evening; consequently, she eats mostly crackers and canned soup. She is not hungry, and her scale reflects this. She has lost 15 pounds over the last 2 months. She does not attend to her makeup or clothes; she finds both too taxing. The clothes she selects are drab and not ironed. At work she makes no effort to talk with her co-workers and does not initiate new contacts with clients. The normal work of filing taxes and writing reports, which she used to enjoy, are overwhelming, and she feels too disorganized to complete them. Telephone calls and e-mail messages from friends are ignored. Attendance at work is spotty.
Sue, her sister, becomes alarmed with Kel’s unanswered telephone calls and e-mails. Worried, she decides to visit her sister at home. She finds the apartment unclean and in disarray. Kel is unkempt, disheveled, and looks sad. Her voice is monotone and flat. Kel tells Sue that she feels “sad and hopeless. Nothing is ever going to change. I am a bad person and I can’t even do my work right. Although I sleep for many hours, I am still tired all the time.” Sue is alarmed at the changes in her sister and arranges for Kel to visit a health care worker at the medical clinic.

How these factors play out will determine the future of health care in the United States.
