Describe the different types of diagnostic methods utilized to identify possibility of cancer. Explain the numeric and Tumor, Node, Metastasized (TNM) method of staging of cancer after the confirmed diagnosis.
Describe at least three complications of cancer, the side effects of treatment, and methods to lessen physical and psychological effects.
Discuss what factors contribute to the yearly incidence and mortality rates of various cancers in Americans.
Explain what the American Cancer Society (ACS) might provide for education and support. What ACS services could a nurse recommend for these patients and why?
Explain how the nursing process is utilized to provide safe and effective care for cancer patients across the life span. Your explanation should include each of the five phases demonstrating the delivery of holistic and patient-focused care.

IntroductionIn this course, we are focusing on a patient safety issue of your choice and working through the steps of the EBP process. In this assessment, identify a tool or tools that could be used to evaluate the intervention.
ScenarioAs the Director of Clinical Operations and Nursing Excellence, it is your responsibility to ensure that the best practices and protocols are implanted throughout the medical center. To further your quest to address a specific patient safety issue, you need to investigate the best measurement tools that could be used to evaluate if the intervention was a success.
InstructionsWrite a two-page paper to explain the method and process of evaluating the proposed practice change.
Follow guidelines from previous assessments to write an introduction paragraph to provide organization for the paper.
Write in the third person, adhering to conventions of academic tone. Identify two instruments that could be used to assess and evaluate the proposed practice change. Identify instruments appropriate for determining the effectiveness of a specific intervention. Briefly describe the origin or originator of each instrument (including the inventor, creator, or company).
Explain the construct it measures, units or scales, type of measurement (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods).
If using a survey for either assessment or evaluation of the intervention, describe the scientific validity and reliability (alpha).
Identify the relevant studies from the literature where the instruments were used. Include a description of the results of the studies.
Describe how the studies differed or if there are similarities to your project.
Explain the rationale for why the instrument was chosen and provide supporting evidence from the literature.
Follow guidelines from previous assessments to write a summary paragraph to provide a closing for the paper.

Develop a patient-centered concept map for a chosen condition. This could be a disease, or a disorder based upon the best available evidence that has been individualized to treat your patient’s health, economic, and cultural needs. Write a brief 3–5 page narrative that explains why the resources cited in the concept map and narrative are valuable and relevant. Describe how you incorporated the patient’s individual culture, identity, abilities, and beliefs into the plan of care. Also, be clear about your specific communication strategies for relating information to the patient and their family.

Use recent evidence based articles no less than 10 years older.
Improvement and implementation are the cornerstones of your DNP Project Plan. The ultimate goal of the DNP Leader is to implement a process that helps to improve the quality of care, quality of service, and/or the performance of a team. Evidence-based practice guidelines are often utilized to support quality improvement projects by navigating implementation frameworks; these frameworks add structure to systems and strengthen the foundation of DNP Projects.
Review the Implementation Science article below.
Identify the model you would like to use, evaluate and appraise your model.
Describe your selected implementation model by identifying key aspects/concepts, background, and other distinguishing characteristics.
Give an example of why and how you plan to utilize the model/framework to better understand the need to improve a process, patient outcomes, team/project environment, and/or population health.

The purpose of this assignment is to explore and select tools and outcomes measures that can be used in a QI project. In the previous Gap Analysis assignment each group developed a needs assessment for their assigned case scenario. (The completed assignment is attached). For the Instrument and Metric for QI Plan Assignment, you will continue to build upon this work by selecting a psychosocial tool and discussing methodology to measure outcomes.
Knowledge and Skills to be Developed
This student will meet the following module objectives by completing this assignment:

• Select appropriate nurse sensitive outcome measures
• Propose outcome assessment strategies and evaluation methods
Task List
• Complete the Instrument & Metrics assignment.
• Using the information your group developed from the previous Gap Analysis assignment, select a psychosocial tool that can be used for measurement in your QI project. *If you are in the Children’s Hospital group, you may not use HCAHPS survey as your tool.
• Answer questions on the Instrument and Metrics template (attached). Type your answers in the text boxes for each question.
o Articles for reliability and validity may be older than 5 years. Many times this information comes from when the tool was developed.

Mr. Perez is a 76-year-old Mexican American who was recently diagnosed with a slow heartbeat requiring an implanted pacemaker. Mr. Perez has been married for 51 years and has 6 adult children (three daughters aged 50, 48, and 42; three sons aged 47, 45, and 36), 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. The youngest boy lives three houses down from Mr. and Mrs. Perez. The other children, except the second-oldest daughter, live within 3 to 10 miles from their parents. The second-oldest daughter is a registered nurse and lives out of state. All members of the family except for Mr. Perez were born in the United States. He was born in Monterrey, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 in order to work and send money back to the family in Mexico. Mr. Perez has returned to Mexico throughout the years to visit and has lived in Texas ever since. He is retired from work in a machine shop.
Mr. Perez has one living older brother who lives within 5 miles. All members of the family speak Spanish and English fluently. The Perez family is Catholic, as evidenced by the religious items hanging on the wall and prayer books and rosary on the coffee table. Statues of St. Jude and Our Lady of Guadalupe are on the living room table. Mr. and Mrs. Perez have made many mandas (bequests) to pray for the health of the family, including one to thank God for the healthy birth of all the children, especially after the doctor had discouraged them from having any more children after the complicated birth of their first child. The family attends Mass together every Sunday morning and then meets for breakfast chorizo at a local restaurant frequented by many of their church’s other parishioner families. Mr. Perez believes his health and the health of his family are in the hands of God.
The Perez family lives in a modest four-bedroom ranch home that they bought 22 years ago. The home is in a predominantly Mexican American neighborhood located in the La Loma section of town. Mr. and Mrs. Perez are active in the church and neighborhood community. The Perez home is usually occupied by many people and has always been the gathering place for the family. During his years of employment, Mr. Perez was the sole provider for the family and now receives social security checks and a pension. Mrs. Perez is also retired and receives a small pension for a short work period as a teacher’s aide. Mr. and Mrs. Perez count on their nurse daughter to guide them and advise on their health care.
Mr. Perez visits a curandero for medicinal folk remedies. Mrs. Perez is the provider of spiritual, physical, and emotional care for the family. In addition, their nurse daughter is always present during any major surgeries or procedures. Mrs. Perez and her daughter the nurse will be caring for Mr. Perez during his procedure for a pacemaker.
Explain the significance of family and kinship for the Perez family.
Describe the importance of religion and God for the Perez family.
Identify two stereotypes about Mexican Americans that were dispelled in this case with the Perez family.
What is the role of Mrs. Perez in this family?
