Discuss impact of cultural issues in nursing:
1. Using QSEN competencies as a model, discuss how culture influences not only health practices but also how the healthcare provider and the patient perceives illness.
2. What is the impact of history and culture in nursing care in a minority population (your choice of group, ie, native Americans, Hispanic, disabled)
3. What are the challenges and changes facing nursing today in making a difference to this population?
Paper Instructions:
Your resources should include your books, at least three to four reputable websites. All questions stated in the concept should be addressed. To provide background for the significance of the topic, prepare 4-5 pages of information (excluding cover and reference pages) from peer reviewed journals (nursing, medical, healthcare) no older than 5 years in publication. You may also use resources from reputable websites as noted above. Paper will follow APA (7th edition) guidelines.
Your presentation should be in a PowerPoint format with reference page and should not exceed 20minutes. You should not exceed 15 slides excluding reference page. -

How healthy is your workplace?
You may think your current organization operates seamlessly, or you may feel it has many issues. You may experience or even observe things that give you pause. Yet, much as you wouldn’t try to determine the health of a patient through mere observation, you should not attempt to gauge the health of your work environment based on observation and opinion. Often, there are issues you perceive as problems that others do not; similarly, issues may run much deeper than leadership recognizes.
There are many factors and measures that may impact organizational health. Among these is civility. While an organization can institute policies designed to promote such things as civility, how can it be sure these are managed effectively? In this Discussion, you will examine the use of tools in measuring workplace civility.

WEEKLY RESOURCES
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and examine the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory, found on page 20 of Clark (2015).
Review and complete the Work Environment Assessment Template in the Resources.
BY DAY 3 OF WEEK 7
Post a brief description of the results of your Work Environment Assessment. Based on the results, how civil is your workplace? Explain why your workplace is or is not civil. Then, describe a situation where you have experienced incivility in the workplace. How was this addressed? Be specific and provide examples.
BY DAY 6 OF WEEK 7
Respond to at least two of your colleagues on two different days by sharing ideas for how shortcomings discovered in their evaluations and/or their examples of incivility could have been managed more effectively. -

How Public Health Nurses Make the Case
Public health nurses working for a local or county health department often find themselves more involved with program planning than direct patient care. Often, they are asked to help develop a health education program based on what is affecting the community the most, limited by budgetary constraints while still meeting reporting requirements of grant funders.
Let’s say your health department has been given the opportunity to apply for funding from three sponsoring organizations. The choices are to develop public health education programs about alcohol consumption, smoking cessation, and community HIV testing. In an upcoming department meeting you are asked to make a case for and against applying for the funding of each of these programs.
In preparing for this presentation, what specific types of data would you recommend to the department? (2 points)
What would be the sources of these data? Are those sources from local, state, or national resources? (2 points)
How could Health People 2030 help frame this presentation? (3 points)
Now look at your home town or any other area you would be interested in and give numbers as to why this area needs public health education. Explain not only the statistics but where you got the numbers from. (3 points) -

Requirements:
1.) APA 7
2.) 8 pages
3.) Turnitin Check
Assignment:
1.) Describe the three rate-based measures of quality you selected, and explain why.
– Cause and Effect Diagram: Also known as the Ishikawa or fishbone diagram, this tool helps you analyze the root causes contributing to an outcome.
– PDSA Worksheet: Plan-Do-Study-Act rapid-cycle testing helps teams assess whether a change leads to improvement using a methodical learning process.
– Failure Modes and Effects Analysis: Also used in Lean management and Six Sigma, FMEA is a systematic, proactive method for identifying potential risks and their impact.
2.) Deconstruct each rate-based measure to include the following:
a. Describe the definition of the measure.
b. Explain the numerical description of how the measure is constructed (the numerator/denominator measure counts, the formula used to construct the rate, etc.).
c. Explain how the data for this measure are collected.
d. Describe how the measurement is compared externally to other like settings, and differentiate between the actual rate and a percentile ranking. Be specific.
e. Explain whether the measure is risk adjusted or not. If so, explain briefly how this is accomplished.
f. Describe how goals might be set for each measure in an aggressive organization, which is seeking to excel in the marketplace. Be specific and provide examples.
4.) Describe the importance of each rate-based measure to a chosen clinical organization and setting.
a. Using the websites and resources, you can choose a hospital, a nursing home, a home health agency, a dialysis center, a health plan, an outpatient clinic, or private office; a total population of patient types is also acceptable, but please be specific as to the setting. That is, if you are interested in patients with chronic illness across the continuum of care, you might home in a particular health plan, a multispecialty practice setting or a healthcare organization with both inpatient and outpatient/clinic settings.
b. Note: Faculty appointments and academic settings are not permitted for this exercise. For all other settings, consult the Instructor for guidance. You do not need actual data from a given organization to complete this Assignment.
3.) Explain how each rate-based measure (you selected) relates to patient safety, to the cost of poor quality, and to the overall cost of healthcare delivery. Be specific and provide examples. -

Include the basics such as hours, pay, performance standards, daily duties, minimum education qualifications for each, job-related soft skills needed for each, reference checks and background checks (how they are done and when) – USE THE DCDEE RULES TO HELP WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION FOR THIS.
Write Personnel Policies for the items from the DCDEE Personnel Policy checklist as listed below in separate sections that pertain to all employees -USE THE DCDEE RULES AND OTHER RELIABLE SOURCES TO HELP WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION FOR THIS:
health and medical requirements
requirements and provisions for in-service training

resignation and termination procedures
*Reciting the rules as your policy is not appropriate- you need to use your own words. Create a Reference section for any sources you use – be sure to use citations and quotations (as applicable) for any wording used that is not your own. -

Discussion Reply
One of my experiences with a provider was negative. I went to a new primary care provider. He
noticed that my systolic blood pressure was slightly elevated in the 140s, and my BMI was 29. I
told him that my blood pressure is usually in the normal range, but it is high today because I had
one of the most stressful times at work as a nurse and in school to be a family nurse practitioner.
The PCP did not listen and stated that I needed to see a cardiologist and exercise more. I told the
PCP that I am a runner and an avid bodybuilder. The PCP could see I was in shape, and even
after I told him I exercise often, he reiterated that I needed to exercise. I told the PCP that I could
lower my BP by changing my diet and decreasing my stress, especially being only slightly high.
Lifestyle modifications, such as reducing salt to 1.5 gm per day and decreasing saturated fat,
alcohol, and caffeine intake, should be initiated first to decrease mild hypertension (Aronow,
2017). The PCP did not want to listen to my options, although he knew I was an RN and I was in
my last semesters of FNP school. In the shared decision model, there are five steps to making
decisions of care (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality [AHRQ], 2020): seeking the
patient’s participation; exploring options with the patient; assessing the patient’s preferences;
reaching a decision with the patient; evaluating the decision. The PCP did not do any of the steps
in the shared decision-making model. The PCP made me angry enough to want to search for a
new PCP, but luckily, he changed his position to a hospitalist; therefore, I had to search for a
new PCP. -
