Module 4 Discussion
Discussion 4
After studying Module 4: Lecture Materials & Resources, discuss the following:
The St. Fleur family is well respected in the Haitian community because they are religious with great moral values. They moved to the United States because of political issues in Haiti. Ronald, the youngest son of this family, is 27 years old and lives at home with his mother and father. Recently, he began having fevers and subsequently developed pneumonia. He was admitted to the hospital, where laboratory tests were HIV positive. Ronald was in shock when the doctor informed him that he was HIV positive. He confessed to the doctor that he was gay, but he could not tell his family. He said that he did not want to bring shame to the family. Because he couldn’t be in a formal relationship disowning to his family and the Haitian community’s view of homosexuality, he has been very promiscuous over the years.
What are Haitians’ views of homosexuality?
If Ronald’s parents were to learn of his positive HIV status, how might they react if they are religious and traditional?
Identify three major culturally congruent strategies a healthcare provider can implement to address HIV prevention practices in the Haitian community?
Submission Instructions:
Your post should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 references from academic journals no older than five years. Grading Rubric Your assignment will be graded according to the grading rubric.

Jean Watson’s theory and philosophy are premised on the care of the patient and the development of the care into a plan that promotes health, wellness, and prevention of illness (Watson, 2021). The core principles can be applied as a guideline in advanced nursing practice. Choosing a single principle was difficult as the principles in a practice setting tend to bleed one into another. Allowing miracles with openness to unexpected and inexplicable life events is one of the core principles in Jean Watson’s theoretical framework (Watson, 2021) that I will apply. Applying this principle to practice equates to practicing and embracing the principle and conscientiously applying those principles. The principle does not rely exclusively on the provider’s clinical expertise but on openness to miracles. The patient and provider relationship should be emphasized and developed. Schedule adequate time for this to grow.
Understanding expectations is vital to the patient and family in a healthcare plan. This includes allowing oneself to be open to the patient’s belief systems. Most importantly, listen to what the patient is saying and what they are not saying. Refrain from assuming what the patient or family expects the outcome to be. Respect can be conveyed in a verbal and nonverbal fashion. Allow the patient to share their thoughts using open-ended responses versus closed-ended responses. This allows an increased understanding of the concerns and hopes of the patient and family. Don’t be evasive when the patient and family express the possibility of a miracle. The hope of a miracle should not be denied but acknowledged. Patient and provider communications should include the possibility, but realism should also be incorporated. This also means not influencing the patient with the provider’s beliefs. On the other hand, the patient must be fully informed of their medical and spiritual choices.

Below are the exact instructions for the paper, but I just need you to write the introduction which needs to be one page, do not write in the introduction about the significance and background as that is not part of the introduction I need. Do include in the introduction: what the main theme will be using a roadmap sentence at the end of the first paragraph of the intro that gives an indication of what the overall progression of ideas in the paper will be. Also include whatever else the instructions say to include in the introduction. Our PICOT question that is being answered is “Among postoperative patients, how does the use of povidone iodine affect the reduction of noncocomial infections in a hospital setting compared to the use of chlorhexidine?” After the introduction I need 1 and 1/2 pages per each source im gonna give you to appraise (just two sources for a total of 3 pages for the appraisals). In total it is four pages (1 for the intro, 1 1/2 for one source appraisal and then another 1 1/2 for the other source appraisal). I will be adding a tool for what you can include in the appraisals + an example appraisal. Also can I request that you please put it through turnitin or another plagiarism report website and send the results so I can assure there is no plagiarism or use of AI. I am also attaching the two sources the appraisals will be on. Lastly, for the information the introduction needs to have you probably need to find new sources so please have them be from the USA and no older than 2018.
The purpose of this literature review is to find evidence to answer your PICOT question. Discuss how your selected BSN nursing care practice is applicable in both the USA and non-USA countries, and critically appraise four research recent studies on your topic. This is a scholarly paper, written as a “Review of the Literature” article publishable in a nursing journal.
Write an 20-32-page narrative [depends on # of team members [4 pages each including 2 appraisals – different articles] (5-point deduction for over/under page limit as submitted in Turnitin) plus a title page, abstract page, and reference page. This is a scholarly publishable paper – DO NOT WRITE IN FIRST PERSON. Use current published peer-reviewed literature (articles) found on FIU library databases to support your statements. You must use a minimum of four original research articles for your paper.
Page 1: Title page: Create a title for your paper. Refer to your APA 7th edition Manual. Do use a running head (a shortened version of the title – 50 characters or less in ALL UPPER CASE.
Page 2: Abstract The abstract should open with a sentence that will serve as an introduction to the purpose of your paper. An abstract is usually a brief outline of the contents you wrote in your paper and typically does not have citations and does not exceed 250 words. After the abstract, place the phrase Keywords, and denote 3-4 keywords that would describe your paper (as for publication and indexing in CINAHL or PubMed).
Pages 3 to (23-35) Narrative (20-32 pages) points deducted for over/under page limits. Use the Sample Student Paper Example in the 7th edition APA Manual to help you format your paper including level 1 headings and Level 2 subheadings as described below
Use level 1 heading: Introduction Start the paper defining the global health problem, and discuss why it is important for nursing (why you are discussing this topic – NOT written in first person). Discuss what is known about the BSN nursing care practice in the USA and non-USA countries.use level 2 heading: Significance (…of the project- why is it important)
use level 2 headings: Background (relevance to nursing)(Approximately 1 page)
Use level 1 heading: Purpose State the purpose of this literature review in terms of answering your PICO question.(Approximately ½-page).
Use level 1 heading: Methods Discuss the methods you used to select your research studies. How did you select your evidence? Similar to a literature review methodology.(Approximately 1 page)
Use level 1 heading: Results [# of articles depends on # of team members = 2 appraisals each – different articles]
Next use the subheading:Use level 2 heading: Study #1: Nursing research Study in the USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #2: Nursing Research Study Non-USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #3: Nursing research Study in the USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #4: Nursing research Study Non-USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #5: Nursing research Study in the USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #6: Nursing Research Study Non-USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #7: Nursing Research Study in the USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)
Use level 2 heading: Study #8: Nursing Research Study Non-USA Provide a brief appraisal (Approximately 1½ pages)[depends on # of team members = 2 appraisals each – different articles]
Use level 1 heading: Conclusion and implications for nursing practice (practice recommendations)Summarize the key points from the results verifying the trustworthiness of the evidence.(Approximately 1 page).
Page 24 or 36: Reference page. Refer to your APA Manual.
This review is a scholarly paper in APA format and with at least four APA with both in text and the reference page citations.
Paper Guidelines:
State clearly in the first paragraph what your main theme will be. One good way to do this is to include a “roadmap sentence” at the end of the first paragraph, giving an indication what the overall progression of ideas in the paper will be.
DO NOT WRITE IN FIRST PERSON
Double-spaced, 1” margins, number your pages, use a running head, and a title and reference page.
Citations should be in APA 7th edition format.

At least Two of the four research articles Must Be authored by nurses and published in a peer-reviewed nursing journal.
At least One of the two nursing research studies must address nursing practice in a non-USA country.
Do not write in first person.
Do not use quotes [practice paraphrasing
I attached the appraisal tool plus an ex-student’s example of what an appraisal or review of the evidence should look like. And then it’s one page to introduce the whole topic and include whatever else the instructions say to have for the introduction MINUS the significance and background because that is being written my other members in my group bc this is a group paper.
in the introduction answer the PICOT question we used articles that discussed OBGYN, central lines, Rectal, orthopedic, abdominal, and foot surgeries. just like one sentence saying that and also when you write out the PICOT question in the introduction that originally said “Among postoperative patients, how does the use of povidone iodine affect the reduction of nosocomial infections in a hospital setting compared to the use of chlorhexidine?” can you just change the word nosocomial to surgical-site? -

Details
In Week 2 you selected a topic of interest and formulated a question about that topic for your Evidence-Based Practice Assignment.
In Week 6 you are completing an appraisal of the two articles, which were the quantitative and qualitative research study reports you were approved for in Week 4. The third article you appraise is an evidence-based practice clinical guideline that is related to your Week 2 topic(medication errors).
Module 6 readings are a continuation from Week 5 that includes chapters 13 and 14 on Appraising Research Evidence and Clinical Practice Guidelines. Please refer to these chapters on how to complete an appraisal using templates provided here in the instructions. Appendix A to G in your book gives you examples of completing a template appraisal form.
For the first template in Week 6 you will choose either a Qualitative or a Quantitative Review (Please do not complete both Quantitative and Qualitative Appraisal). Your second article is a Systematic Review Appraisal, and your 3rd article is an Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline.
There are hyperlinks to these templates in Week 6 instructions. Do not create your word document with answers.
Each section of the template is required to be completed as this assignment builds on your Evidence-Based Practice Project. Each template has a citation that must be submitted in APA 7th-ed format. Answers to questions in Synopsis sections are required (see template examples mentioned above in your book). Credibility section Yes/No answers are also required. The Comments area is also required and should be at least 1-3 sentences noting how this article relates to your nursing issue topic from Week 2(Medication errors) and what you thought was significant.
You will use these articles again in Week 8 Model and Barrier Paper and your Week 9 Evidence-Based Practice Project Poster.
Please review the rubric closely and proof your work by reviewing instructions before you submit.

Professionals in many fields that study and work with people use genograms. They provide a diagram of a person’s family and social network to identify patterns and trends across multiple generations. Genograms can be clinically beneficial to integrate a patient’s family information into the health assessment for improved patient care. In this discussion board, you will first complete a genogram on your selected patient. (this patient has a complaint of a persistent sore throat and productive cough. Patient is short of breath upon exertion and has difficulty breathing multiple times throughout the day.)
Go to one of the following websites to create either a web-based or pdf printable version of your selected patient’s family genogram:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention web-based genogram tool.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services web-based and printable versions of the “My Family Health Portrait Tool”
After completing the genogram, evaluate how its data supports or enhances the body of knowledge gathered in the complete health history – what new information was revealed that will direct health promotion or disease prevention for your patient?
DirectionsComplete the genogram on your selected patient using one of the tools above.
Compose a short essay (250-300 words) to address the following areas:
Identify one real or potential risk factor that was revealed (or reinforced) by the genogram.
Develop nursing interventions for health promotion related to this risk factor.
Cite at least two scholarly articles from the nursing literature that support your content. You do not need to submit the genogram.

Considering the Policy Process (Chapter 7 – Berkowitz in Mason, Levitt, & Chaffee), appraise a recent healthcare policy change on your unit or in your organization using the Policy Process. This discussion may also present for you an opportunity to reflect back on a “burning question” that you have as a nurse.
Problem: What was the basis for the policy change? What was the problem? How was it identified?
Evidence based rationale: What evidence was used to determine the problem was significant enough to result in a change?
Options: Were there alternative options for consideration prior to developing the policy? How was the policy implemented?
Stakeholder Involvement: Who was informed and educated about the decisions and issues surrounding the problem, issue, policy?
Implementation: What were the actions steps to implementation?
Evaluation: Did the policy work (resolve the problem it was designed to address)? Were there any unintended consequences of the policy? How likely will the policy impact change on the unit, in the organization or in your practice? -

As your EBP skills grow, you may be called upon to share your expertise with others. While EBP practice is often conducted with unique outcomes in mind, EBP practitioners who share their results can both add to the general body of knowledge and serve as an advocate for the application of EBP.
In this Discussion, you will explore strategies for disseminating EBP within your organization, community, or industry.
RESOURCES
Be sure to review the Learning Resources before completing this activity.
Click the weekly resources link to access the resources.
WEEKLY RESOURCES
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and reflect on the various strategies presented throughout the course that may be helpful in disseminating effective and widely cited EBP.This may include: unit-level or organizational-level presentations, poster presentations, and podium presentations at organizational, local, regional, state, and national levels, as well as publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Reflect on which type of dissemination strategy you might use to communicate EBP.
BY DAY 3 OF WEEK 9
Post at least two dissemination strategies you would be most inclined to use and explain why. Explain which dissemination strategies you would be least inclined to use and explain why. Identify at least two barriers you might encounter when using the dissemination strategies you are most inclined to use. Be specific and provide examples. Explain how you might overcome the barriers you identified.
BY DAY 6 OF WEEK 9
Respond to at least two of your colleagues on two different days by offering additional ideas to overcome the barriers to strategies suggested by your colleagues and/or by offering additional ideas to facilitate dissemination.
