The purpose of the assignment is for students to review a recent (within the past five years) qualitative study focused on a population or presenting problem of relevance to counseling psychology and of interest to the student. The chosen study must use individual, in-depth, qualitative interviewing as the method of data collection.
The first part will identify the study’s main research question or objective, the rationale provided for why the question or objective is important to address, the sampling methods used, sample description, the key findings, the study limitations and questions for future research.
The second part will propose a new study that would add to or build onto what the current study learned. This could involve interviewing individuals related to those in the study and/or adding a set of questions that were not asked in the original study. Describe how findings from the proposed new study could be useful for mental health counselors.

Premise of the study
The study, “Influence of Culture on Ethical Decision Making in Psychology,” examines the influence of culturally ethical beliefs on psychologists’ decision-making. The study was conducted with a sample of 181 psychologists, half of whom were American and half of whom were Chinese.
Cultural implications on ethical decision-making
The study found that culture has a significant impact on ethical decision-making. American psychologists were more likely to make consequentialist decisions, while Chinese psychologists were more likely to make rule-based decisions. Consequentialist decisions are based on the potential consequences of the decision, while rule-based decisions are based on ethical rules and principles.
Results of the study
The study found that Chinese psychologists were more likely to rate ethical scenarios as unethical than American psychologists. This suggests that Chinese psychologists have a stricter view of ethical conduct. My opinion on how much culture should or does impact ethical decision-making

Culture can provide us with valuable insights into different ethical perspectives and can help us to make more informed ethical decisions. However, it is important to remember that culture is not monolithic. There is a great deal of variation within cultures, and people from the same culture may have different ethical beliefs. It is also important to remember that ethical principles such as autonomy, beneficence, and justice are universal values. These principles should guide our ethical decision-making regardless of our cultural background.
I believe that the APA Ethics Code is a valuable resource for psychologists when making ethical decisions. The code provides a framework for ethical decision-making and addresses a wide range of ethical issues. However, it is important to note that the code is not a universal standard of ethical conduct. Cultural differences may require psychologists to adapt the code to meet the specific needs of their clients and communities.

Robert Sternberg and Howard Gardner argued that, as a society, we need to expand our measure of intelligence beyond traditional tests. Describe the way each explains intelligence. Then explain how ideas presented by Sternberg and Gardner have changed school environments.
