For this assignment, you will create a differential diagnosis for the patient in your chosen case. Be sure to select one of the cases above that you have not already written about in a prior assignment for this class. Be sure to follow the instructions in Chapter 1: Differential Diagnosis Step by Step when creating your differential diagnosis. Your assignment must include the following: Recommend a diagnosis based on the patient’s symptoms, presenting problems, and history. Assess the validity of your diagnosis using a sociocultural perspective. Compare at least one evidence-based and one non-evidence-based treatment option for the diagnosis. Research a minimum of two peer-reviewed sources to support your choices. Propose and provide an explanation for a minimum of two historical perspectives and two theoretical orientations that are inappropriate alternates for the conceptualizations in this case (e.g., cognitive, behavioral, humanistic, biological, sociocultural, evolutionary, psychoanalytic, integrative, etc.). NOTE: Be clear that you are writing about theoretical orientations and using the theoretical orientations to explain the client’s symptoms and presenting problems. Do not use the theoretical orientations to discuss any therapy or treatment approaches. Your application of the theoretical orientations should answer the question: How did this client develop the symptoms and current presenting problems? For example, “Based on the cognitive perspective, how did this client develop the symptoms and current presenting problem?” “Based on the humanisitic perspective, how did this client develop the symptoms and current presenting problem?” Etc. The Making a Differential Diagnosis assignment Must be three to five double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the UAGC Writing CenterLinks to an external site.. Must include a separate title page with the following: Title of paper Student’s name University name (The University of Arizona Global Campus) Course name and number Instructor’s name Date submitted Must use at least two peer-reviewed sources in addition to the course text. Must document all sources in APA style as outlined in the Writing Center. Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Writing Center.

    1) The written report offers specific details of how you took an idea from either the lecture, the textbook [cite page] or the PowerPoint presentation [cite slide] and utilized information in class in a real life situation either at home, work, church, school or some other group setting. 1 sentence.THE FOCUS HERE IS ON SOMETHING THAT STOOD OUT, EVOKED A STRONG EMOTION OR A REALIZATION, OR INSIGHT. CAN YOU IDENTIFY AND NAME THE EMOTION THAT YOU FELT. BE SURE TO INDICATE WHERE YOU FOUND THIS INFORMATION BY INDICATING TEXT PAGE OR POWERPOINT SLIDE # [Rubric 2 points]
    2) In this report you will mention;
    a) The specific idea/concept from last class that you used, or were specifically assigned,1 sentence. HERE YOU NAME OR IDENTIFY THE CONCEPT. [Rubric 1 point]
    b) Your understanding of the idea, 1 sentence. HERE YOU EXPLAIN YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT. [Rubric 1 point]
    c) The time, date and location that it was done, 1 sentence. AT THIS POINT YOU SHARE WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED WITH ANOTHER PERSON. THIS OCCURS THIS WEEK AND NOT SOME EVENT YEARS AGO. [Rubric 1 point]

This will be our first case study activity!
Case studies are profiles of one individual that has a particular disorder – their history, symptoms, and current functioning.
Generally these case studies will focus on a particular disorder that we’re learning about in that section of the course.
Since we haven’t learned about any disorders yet, we’re going to focus instead on the theoretical perspectives of understanding disorders that were in the lecture today (and this case study will therefore be shorter than the case studies we’ll normally read).
The case study will be about substance use disorder, and some other problems, but we won’t talk about the symptoms or how the disorder is presenting today (like we normally would), just the factors that contributed to the disorder developing. So don’t worry about needing to know anything about substance use disorder.

The grades.jasp file is a sample data set. The data represent a teacher’s recording of student demographics and performance on quizzes and a final exam across three sections of the course. This data file is used in all four papers (Week 2, Week 4, Week 6, and Week 8).
This week’s assignment is on correlations. You will analyze the following variables in the grades.jasp data set:
    Variable Definition
Quiz1 Quiz 1: number of correct answers
    GPA Previous grade point average
Total Total number of points earned in class
Final Final exam: number of correct answers
Step 1: Write Section 1 of the DAA: The Data Analysis Plan
Name the four variables used in this analysis and whether they are categorical or continuous.
State a research question, null hypothesis, and alternate hypothesis for total and final.
State a research question, null hypothesis, and alternate hypothesis for gpa and quiz1.
Step 2: Write Section 2 of the DAA: Testing Assumptions
Test for one of the assumptions of correlation – normality.
Create a descriiptive statistics table in statistical software to assess normality. This table should include the four variables named above, including skew and kurtosis for each variable.
Paste the table in the DAA Template.
Interpret the skewness and kurtosis values and determine whether the assumption of normality was violated or not violated.
Step 3: Write Section 3 of the DAA: Results and Interpretation
Using the statistical software, paste the intercorrelation matrix for the four variables into the document.
Below the output, first report the total-final correlation including degrees of freedom, correlation coefficient, and p value. Specify whether or not to reject the null hypothesis for this correlation.
Second, report the gpa-quiz1 correlation including degrees of freedom, correlation coefficient, and p value. Specify whether or not to reject the null hypothesis for this correlation.
Step 4: Write Section 4 of the DAA: Statistical Conclusions
Provide a brief summary of your analysis and the conclusions drawn about correlations.
Analyze the limitations of the statistical test and/or possible alternative explanations for your results.
Step 5: Write Section 5 of the DAA: Application
Analyze how you might use correlations in your field of study.
Name two variables that would work for such an analysis and why studying the relationship may be important to the field or practice.
Submit your DAA template as an attached Word document in the assignment area.

“Psychologists do more than just wonder about human behavior: they conduct research to understand exactly why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. Like other scientists, psychologists use the scientific method, a standardized way to conduct research. A scientific approach is used in order to avoid bias or distortion of information. After collecting data, psychologists organize and analyze their observations, make inferences about the reliability and significance of their data, and develop testable hypotheses and theories” Select a psychological problem and discuss a research method you would use to explore the issue. Describe any factors in the client’s background that might predispose him or her to this disorder (in other words, are there any issues from when the client was younger that might put them at risk for the disorder but not specifically cause it when they were younger?).
Describe any symptoms in the case study that support the diagnosis. You can include direct quotes or any other behaviors described.
What proximal or triggering factors contributed to the development of this disorder (i.e., were there any events that appeared to directly precede the onset of the client’s symptoms)?
