Assessment Background
Psychologists need to understand research design and statistics for several reasons – from developing of new therapy techniques to evaluating the effectiveness of established therapies to understanding attitudes and motivations of particular groups. Research allows us to make contributions to the field of psychology. Statistics allows us to make sense of and interpret information around us.
An important part of our training and education in Psychology is to write research reports. The purpose of a research report (also known as lab reports) is to communicate to others the important points of a piece of research: (i) why you did it, (ii) how you did it, (iii) what you found and (iv) what you think it means.
In psychology, we follow a particular standard format (which is the APA 7 style). There are two reasons for doing this:
1) Ease of communication – it is easier to find information from a study if it is written in a standard format
2) The format makes it clear what information is important for scientific communication.
Hopefully, by doing this assignment, you accomplish the following learning objectives:
To become better informed consumers of research
To be sufficiently prepared for the further upskilling required by honours level research and statistics subjects
What is your task?
Your task is to complete the rest of the research report and submit it. Use the information provided to write sections of a paper for publication including:
The Results section should report the results of:
Descriptive statistics.
Inferential statistics.
The Discussion section should report:
An interpretation of the results considering the research and hypotheses presented in the Introduction.
Relating of research findings to the literature.
Strengths and limitations of the study.
Recommendations for future research in the area.
Add any references for any additional authors that you cited in the report (if there is any) plus any references you’ve used from the introduction.
Note:
No analysis is required in this task.
All data required to complete this task will be provided and located in your Assessment Folder on the subject site.

No adjustments need to be made to the Introduction or the Methodology sections.
The Results and Discussion sections, together, should not exceed 1,500 words (+10%).

Beginning meetings appropriately with clients is essential, since the first impression is often the lasting impression. Generally, the therapeutic assessment interview takes place during the initial meeting between the client and the counselor. During this interview process, the counselor will gather, assess, and analyze pertinent information from the client about their current cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral experiences, precipitating factors/events, and mental health history, including their family history.
As you may imagine, disclosing this information can be difficult for most people. Beginning a therapeutic relationship can provoke feelings of anxiousness. Clients generally feel anxious to have the problem bringing them to therapy resolved, but they are also anxious about whether there will be a connection with the counselor, and what they can expect from the therapeutic process. To help relieve clients of these anxious feelings, counselors are encouraged to frame the purpose and the process of counseling by setting the tone for the relationship. Counselors can achieve this task by using the initial meeting to establish the therapeutic relationship, setting boundaries, and establishing rules and expectations of the helping context such as confidentiality, crisis management, professional disclosure statement, etc.
Think about how you would set the tone and establish a therapeutic relationship with a client. Demonstrate how you would begin your initial meeting with a client. Include the following in your introduction response:
Explanation of the counseling process including the purpose of the therapeutic assessment interview
Identify counselor and client expectations (what the client can expect from you and you from them)
Explain what will happen during the initial meeting and subsequent sessions

This paper must be APA format and will revolve around animal-assisted therapy and music therapy. This would be a compare and contrast paper between the two theories/therapy forms. This paper must include three peer-reviewed journal articles as references. There must be in text citations where needed. The four pages must cover:
The important and distinctive elements of the two theories selected, how they compliment or relate to each other, and why they are important/ how they bring special meaning to people.

According to Erik Erikson, the search for identity begins. Write about some of the key concepts in this stage of development and use your own examples to illustrate them. Looking back on adolescence, how did you use hypothetical reasoning skills to experiment with different selves? How does your understanding of your ethnicity and culture contribute to your identity?

The first step is picking a culture to research! Remember, you are going to need to cover all of the components above so be sure to do some researching to make sure there is enough information out there.

For your final project, you will write the first two steps in what is known as a research proposal. This will be the beginning of the process for designing a complete research experiment. You will not collect any data.
At this point, you have completed steps 1, 2, and 3. This week you will need to complete step 4 and 5 to make your research proposal introduction complete.
Step 1 – In week 1, you chose a psychology topic you were interested in and developed an annotated bibliography after reviewed the literature related to your topic. You chose 4 peer-reviewed journal articles through Keiser’s online library, Google Scholar, or Research Gate for this evaluation.
Step 2 – In week 2, you developed an introduction section based on the research chosen in week 1 for your hypothetical research study. At this point, you could identify the IV and DV for your proposed study.
Step 3 – In week 3, you used feedback and revised your introduction section to develop it further into a Literature Review. At this point, your hypothesis was clearly stated, which includes operationalizing that hypothesis–choosing how you would measure each variable.
Step 4 – You will find at least 2 more articles that support your research question or the ideas surrounding it.
Step 5 – You will write an abstract that will summarize your introduction and your literature review.
