    CONFORMITY
Fashion is a fascinating phenomenon, largely because people seem to conform to its dictates. Be it clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, hairstyle, home décor, lifestyle, and even body styles, people tend to go along with the latest trends. Media fashion images are inescapable; at supermarket checkouts, fashion magazine covers feature perfectly dressed, coifed, accessorized women and tanned, broad-shouldered, men with six-pack abs and bulging biceps. Most people do not look like this—but they try to—as evidenced by the billions spent yearly on clothes, cosmetics, diet plans, and gym memberships.
For this Discussion, you will examine social conformity as it applies to fashion trends.
    TO PREPARE
Review the Learning Resources related to conformity and think about how social psychology theory and research explains why women and men conform to the pressures of fashion, diet, body styles, and lifestyles.
    BY DAY 3
Post Informed by social psychology theory and research, please explain why, health reasons aside, women and men conform to the pressure of fashion dictates.
    BY DAY 5
Respond to at least one of your colleagues and, informed by social psychology theory and research, please share pressures you have experienced to conform to fashion dictates.
Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the social psychology theory and research. In addition to the Learning Resources, search the Walden Library and/or Internet for peer-reviewed articles to support your post and responses. Use proper APA format and citations, including those in the Learning Resources.

Pretend you are a hospital counselor in a meeting with the administration. A presentation is given concerning how there seems to be a high-stress level at the hospital that is negatively affecting many employees’ health. You have been asked to create a policy brief presentation that shows the negative effects on the mental and physical health of the employees. The purpose of a policy brief is to show research concerning an issue/problem along with recommendations. This information is to be used in order to make an informed decision on these issues and how the administration can reach out to help their workers. Write this assignment as if you are actually giving a talk to the Hospital Board Members.

In this week’s discussion, we will begin to tie the body systems studied thus far together. Moreover, we will see the effects of disease on the systems studied and thoughtfully consider how science equips humans to participate in God’s redemptive work.
Research a disease process of your choice. Choose a disease process that involves at least three organ systems — the effect of the disease on these systems must be detailed in the initial discussion board post.
You are required to the following outline as a guide:
Indicate the disease to be discussed.
Describe disease process, including common symptoms and the effect on three organ systems.
Discuss treatment and management of the disease.
Describe how science equips humans to participate in God’s redemptive work.
(The disease I chose is Hypertension)

Take a look a chapter 11, Career Counseling. For the discussion this week, choose a major career path that involves doing therapy or counseling, for example: licensed professional counselors (LPCs) also called mental health counselors, school counselors, marriage and family therapists, clinical psychologists, counseling psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and psychiatrists.
Go to the following website (below) at the Occupational Outlook Handbook at the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, and mention in your discussion what you found regarding educational requirements, job outlook, job description and salaries.

Good evening everyone, I hope everybody has had a great start to the week!
For my discussion post today I will be discussing careers in mental health. The options are endless and there are just so many opportunities for people to succeed in having a career in this field. I will also be writing about a major career path that involves doing therapy or counseling, and also mention what I learned about the educational requirements, job outlook, job description, and salary of the specific career path. To have a career in mental health one would be doing some form of counseling, in order to fully grasp the context of your career we must first take a look at where counseling originated “through the process and techniques of vocational guidance is how the counseling profession was first implemented” (Kottler & Shepard 2015, p.301).
The career that I would be interested in would be a LPC or school counselor for short. The educational requirements for a school counselor requires a masters degree in school counseling and state issued credentials. In the occupational outlook handbook it says that school counselors should have attended a degree program because this is essential to the skills of the job. According to the OOH the job outlook for a school counselor has employment expected to grow 10% from 2021 to 2031, with as many as 32,000 openings for school and career advisors. I believe that when I have finally completed my degree there will still be a high demand for school counselors and even if there isn’t I still would pursue this career because this is something near and dear to my heart, although “the lowest paid 25% school counselor to date has made $47,390 (Graves, para. 3) this still wouldn’t affect my decision. A job description for a school counselor includes helping students develop high achieving academic and social skills, which would be a great position for me because I love to put in the dedication to help others succeed and reach their goals. A school counselor also works with students to help with poor attendance ,negatively impacted attendance in school, and behavioral changes.
Lastly the salary that a school counselor would be making is at the highest “best paid 25% $77,210 (Graves, para. 3) and and median annual wage of $60,510 which was reported in May 2021. Overall in doing this discussion post I have learned a great deal about the career position that I am interested in and the factors it takes to get the position and maintain an outstanding reputation in said career field.
Wishing everyone a great rest of the week!

EDITED Week 3 Discussion: Careers in Mental Health Care
    COLLAPSE
The Occupational Outlook Handbook states that Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), also called Mental Health Counselors, need a bachelor’s degree in counseling plus 2,000 to 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. Most states also require licensure. The job outlook for LPCs is expected to grow much faster than average, at 22% from 2021 to 2031. The median salary in 2021 was $48,520 yearly (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022).
Licensed Professional Counselors provide mental health services focusing on behavioral, emotional, and cognitive issues. Depending on the state, they may be called licensed clinical professional counselors, licensed mental health counselors, or something similar. As an LPC, you may counsel individuals, couples, families, and groups for learning impairments, substance abuse, and psychoanalysis. A counselor’s education and training focus on providing client-centered treatment (Kottler & Shepard, 2015).
The job description for an LPC includes the following:
Assessing clients’ needs, strengths, and weaknesses.
    Developing treatment plans.
Providing individual, group, and family counseling.
Keeping detailed records of clients’ progress.
A counseling degree helps prepare you to guide other people through difficult times. Here are a few steps on the LPC track to consider (2U, 2022).
    Earn a bachelor’s degree
Pursue a master’s degree in counseling
    Complete practicum and internship hours
    Sit for a licensure exam
    Obtain counseling licensure and certification
    Choose a counseling career path
Advance your practice through continued learning
LPCs work with clients experiencing a wide range of psychological distresses, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems, grief, and low self-esteem. LPCs use various counseling techniques to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. LPCs may also provide crisis counseling to clients experiencing a major life event, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or job loss.
LPCs also consult with other professionals, such as physicians, teachers, and lawyers, to coordinate client services. LPCs work in a variety of settings, including private practices, mental health clinics, hospitals, and schools. LPCs may also work for employee assistance programs, substance abuse treatment facilities, and government agencies.
