address the prompt below.
In this module, you will explore the concept of data literacy and its importance in psychological research. First you will watch the video How Not to Be Ignorant About the World. Both your text and the video discuss bias and intuition and how both of these can cause decision making to go awry. The video ends by suggesting four heuristics (methods of problem solving, or “practical tricks,” as Hans Rosling describes them) that help people make accurate decisions in the modern world. As you answer the questions, think about the four methods and how they could be useful in people’s lives and decision making.
For your initial post, review the video and answer the following questions:
How would you describe one of the cognitive biases discussed in the video or in your assigned reading?
How can biases cause people to make inaccurate decisions?
How might using data and scientific reasoning help to avoid these types of biases?
How does the concept of data literacy and its importance in psychological research apply to any of the following programmatic course themes?
Social justice
Career connections
Ethics
Remember to respond to two peers while being respectful of and sensitive to their viewpoints. Consider advancing the discussion in the following ways:
Post an article, video, or additional research to reinforce a peer’s idea or challenge them to see their point from a different perspective.
Consider asking a content-relevant question or discussing your own personal experience with biases or heuristics such as those discussed in your textbook or the video.
To complete this assignment, review the Psychology Undergraduate Discussion Rubric. You will also need:

Explain the philosophical foundations underlying the science of behavior analysis.
This assignment assesses the following Course Outcomes:
PS558-1: Explain the philosophical foundations underlying the science of behavior analysis.
PS558-2: Explain behavior from the perspective of radical behaviorism.
PS558-3: Examine the goals of behavior analysis as a science.
ANSWER
Philosophical Foundations of Behavior Analysis
Behavior analysis is a scientific approach to understanding and changing human behavior. It is based on the philosophical assumptions of radical behaviorism, which holds that all behavior is controlled by the environment.
Radical behaviorists reject the idea that internal mental states, such as thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, play a causal role in behavior. Instead, they argue that behavior is determined by its antecedents (events that occur before the behavior) and consequences (events that occur after the behavior).
Behavior from the Perspective of Radical Behaviorism
Radical behaviorists view all behavior as operant behavior. Operant behavior is behavior that is emitted by the individual and that is influenced by its consequences.
Reinforcement is a consequence that increases the likelihood that a behavior will occur in the future. Punishment is a consequence that decreases the likelihood that a behavior will occur in the future.
Radical behaviorists argue that all behavior, including complex behaviors such as language and problem-solving, can be explained by the principles of reinforcement and punishment.
Goals of Behavior Analysis as a Science
The goals of behavior analysis as a science are to:
Understand the principles that govern human behavior
Develop effective methods for changing human behavior
Apply these principles and methods to solve real-world problems
Behavior analysis has been used to successfully treat a wide range of problems, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, behavioral disorders, and substance abuse. It has also been used to improve performance in areas such as education, sports, and business.
Example
A child is misbehaving in class. A radical behaviorist would explain this behavior by examining the antecedents and consequences of the behavior. For example, the child may be misbehaving because they are bored or because they are seeking attention from the teacher. The radical behaviorist would then develop a plan to change the child’s behavior by changing the antecedents and consequences of the behavior. For example, the teacher could provide the child with more challenging work or they could give the child more positive attention when they are behaving appropriately.
Conclusion
Behavior analysis is a powerful tool for understanding and changing human behavior. It is based on the philosophical assumptions of radical behaviorism, which holds that all behavior is controlled by the environment. Behavior analysis has been used to successfully treat a wide range of problems, and it has the potential to improve many areas of our lives. -

Please refer to and complete the Personnel Psychology Concepts and Applications Assignment and Worksheet for this assignment.
Find the concept in the course readings and materials.
Provide a brief definition or explanation of the concept in your own words in the “Definition” column.
Explain how that concept applies or can be applied in the workplace in the “Application” column.
Cite the source in the “Cite” column.
