Carl Rogers planned to be a minister, but after doing clinical work with children, he switched to philosophy and received a Ph.D. Carl Rogers has contributed to the field of psychology through the humanistic theory of personality development by writing Counseling and Psychotherapy (Rogers, C., 1967), Client-Centered Therapy (1951), and Psychotherapy and Personality Change (1954, Gendlin, E. T., 1988. Rogers’ main theoretical contributions were the founding of humanistic psychology and the development of new ethical standards for psychotherapy. According to American Psychologist Association (2021), “Rogers developed the person-centered, also known as client-centered, approach to psychotherapy and developed the concept of unconditional positive regard while pioneering the field of clinical psychological research.” He was also the first recipient of the Distinguished Professional Contribution Award from the American Psychological Association.
Studying multiple realities throughout the experimentation with psychedelics provides insight into our impulsive need to learn the unknown, no matter the risks. According to Rogers (1973), “The reality we are so sure of, the reality so plainly shown to us by our senses, may not be the only reality open to mankind. I have raised the query as to whether we would ever be willing to take the frightening risk of investigating this possibility without prejudgment.”
The question presented in this article is, can we as a species be open to the possibility of multiple realities? The studies and empirical work became the act of attempting to reach alternate realities, Often through psychedelic drugs. According to Rogers (1973), “Now with the knowledge of many types of drug-induced states of expanded consciousness and changed reality, with all the years of careful study of ESP, with the international studies of psi phenomena, with serious theorists such as LeShan (1969), we will have a harder and harder time closing our eyes to the possibility of another reality (or realities), operating on rules quite different from our well known commonsense empirical reality, the only one known to most psychologists.”
Raymond Cattelll
The person I chose is Raymond Cattell. He was an influential psychologist who developed new techniques that allowed for more measurements of the components of personality. He completed his doctoral work at the university college in London and joined the Harvard faculty in 1941. His time there was influential because he developed his theory of personality and the idea of new factor-analytic methods to study cognitive abilities. He also “developed the components of fluid intelligence (the ability to analyze novel problems) and crystalized intelligence (the ability to apply skill and knowledge to familiar problems), a distinction that still figures prominently in many theories of the components of intelligence” (Harvard University, 2007). He invented the 16 personality factors and a test measuring intelligence. In an article called Heritability of Ego Strength, Super Ego Strength, and Self Sentiment by Multiple Abstract Variance Analysis, Raymond Cattell wrote about behavioral genetics, where over 3,000 boys were studied, paying particular attention to genetic and fraternal twins. Cantrell invented a personality questionnaire that was made up specifically for boys in the range of 12-18 years of age. The article shows multiple graphs with explanations to show how the information received was mathematically equated and the significance of the findings throughout the entire article. The results show that there are successes throughout the research. Some particular are control strengths within the educative, cultural environment and compulsive character traits. “The control strengths in cultural environments helped show that it is a strong point in helping to bring students who are below average into the average status. The compulsive character indicates society’s emphasis on personal perfection” (Cattell, 1982). This questionnaire helps to show how society and social diversity play a vital role in our personality makeshift. In how easily influenced humans are at adapting to our environment and being a leader with natural skill abilities that we’re not learned. References: Hall, J. W. (2007). For this assignment, use the final conceptualization guidelines attached. The guidelines are similar to the directions for the group assignment minus one detail. You can conceptualize the case of Ariel or Cruella Deville (this requires watching the movie Cruella, 2021).
You can choose to do this as an individual or as a group. Your group cannot consist of more than five people unless you are doing it in the group you were initially assigned to (that has more than five members). This assignment is due by March 14th.
Use one of the following theories
Psychoanalytic
Psychosocial Developmental Theory

Ariel/ Cruella Deville Case Study
Each group or individual will prepare a brief intake. Groups/individuals will submit a printed copy of the intake and conceptualization. The entire document should be no more than three typed pages, including client background information (Client demographics, presenting problem, psychosocial history, medical history, psychiatric history, substance abuse history, employment/education history). Conceptualization(Use the conceptualization guidelines). Create an intervention plan (based on appropriate treatments per your conceptualization. You are not required to give a diagnosis, but add one relevant and connect it to your conceptualization. In addition, identify the possible (specific) local resources you would recommend for this client. Use the sample intake as a guide.
Objectives:
To assist students in identifying and applying the principles learned from personality theories.
To promote critical thinking and discussion regarding psychological function, using theories of personality to conceptualize psychological problems. -

Read the Case Study for “Johnny” and review/score the most current version of DSM Parent/Guardian-Rated Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure—Child Age 6–17 form completed by the mother (attached).
Write a 500-750-word paper about Johnny and your findings. Include the following in your paper:
What information/data did you gather from the most current version of DSM Parent/Guardian-Rated Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure?
What will you do next based on the information from the Level 1 Measure?
Identify the appropriate principal and provisional DSM diagnoses for “Johnny” and the rationale for each diagnosis given.
What additional information do you need to either rule-in or rule-out the provisional diagnosis? Develop 5 questions you would ask (and to whom) to gather more information to support your decision. Provide a rationale for each question proposed.
As a crisis counselor in a hospital setting, you will most likely come in contact with patients only once for an initial assessment. After the assessment is completed and you have identified the principal and or provisional diagnosis, what referrals and treatment recommendations would you make for Johnny?
At least five scholarly references in addition to the textbook in your paper to substantiate your findings.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. -

Please write a one-page double-spaced reading reflection following the guidelines below. This week’s assignment consists of you watching a Motivational Interviewing video in full, reviewing additional training resources, and writing a brief reflection on the trainings. *See reflection description at bottom of this page*
1) Watch the training on Motivational Interviewing
For this week’s assignment, you will review the Motivational Interviewing module listed below. Motivational Interviewing is routinely used in medical settings by both mental health/behavioral health professionals and medical professions. It is a common technique used in medical settings and often you will be expected to know it. The link below will require you to register but you will then have access to a variety of training resources that would be helpful for your work in integrated care.

2) Review the Additional Resources (you don’t need to watch, just explore the following):
Working in Integrated Care builds on your training as a mental health professional. Depending on where you are in your Master’s level training, some of you may not have a theory/model selected yet. I wanted to provide you with some free trainings and resources that can help you as you begin to consider what you will “do” with patients with a medical illness. There are a few listed below. These are not required for you to complete this week, but are offered as resources for future training and to support your learning in your traineeships.
ACT is commonly used in integrated care to deliver quick, meaningful interventions.

Solution focused therapy is also very commonly used in integrated care as it works well for brief interventions of all types. Below is one of many resources you can find online.
The Solution Focused Universe – Elliott ConnieLinks to an external site.
And finally, this resource provides several tools that can be useful such as worksheets, activities, and videos that be used both for your training and in session with patients.

3) Reflection
A) After viewing the motivational interviewing video, you will provide an overview of the 3 most important things you learned about Motivational Interviewing and how you can apply it in your current or hoped for traineeship.
B) After reviewing (don’t need to watch, just explore) the other resources, share which resources sound the most intriguing to you and why.
This reflection should be 1 page double-spaced. APA. -
