Prior to beginning watch The Elevator Pitch Links to an external site.video about creating an elevator speech, and watch the following examples:
Next, design your own one-minute sales pitch tailored toward your chosen career path. It is recommended that you also review the 30 Second Elevator Pitch and Professional Summaries Links to an external site.online resource. Consider the person in your field whom you would most like the opportunity to speak with, and keep this person in mind throughout the process.

Choose a person that you want to meet in an elevator to give them your pitch for being a qualified future candidate for their organization.
Discuss your areas of expertise in the area of psychology (thus far) and how they could be applied to benefit the organization or industry in your future career.
Record your 30-second to one-minute video speech utilizing the Canvas recording tool, or using any recording software of your choice. Be sure to consider how you would want to be perceived visually by the person as well. Introduce yourself, demonstrate your value to the organization, and end with a request for your listener.
It is recommended that you create a scriipt or, at minimum, a list of talking points prior to creating your recording. For an explanation of steps to follow when creating an elevator speech, read the PSY620: Preparing Your Elevator Speech Download PSY620: Preparing Your Elevator Speechdocument.
Tips:
If you do not have a recording device, it is possible to plug your ear buds into the microphone slot to create the voiceover. (It just will not be quite as clear so make sure to speak clearly and a bit more loudly.)
You can also use the recorder on many phones and send the audio to yourself by email.
If using Zoom, upload to YouTube or Screencast-o-matic to share a link. (You can even edit in Screencast-o-matic if you need to.)
Once you have completed your recording, share your pitch with the class by copying and pasting the link for your recording into your discussion post by Day 5, unless you utilized the Canvas recording tool which does not require this step. Include in your written summary the name of the person you chose to give your speech to as well as a 50- to 150-word descriiption of the individual’s background, industry, area of expertise, and your rationale for choosing this person.
Guided Response: Review and listen to several of your colleague’s posts/elevator speeches, and respond to at least two of your peers on Day 7 of the week.
In your responses, provide a substantive critique with a minimum of 100 words of your colleague’s presentation by addressing the following:
Did he or she present themselves well?
Did he or she seem qualified?
Was it clear what he or she has to offer the organization/industry?
Continue to monitor the discussion forum until 5:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) on Day 7 of the week and respond to anyone who replies to your initial post.
Note to Students: This assignment requires that you produce a visual presentation, supply a spoken audio narrative, and to listen to the audio narrative of others. If you have a documented disability accommodation that might interfere with your ability to complete this assignment, you may contact your instructor to develop a comparable alternative assignment.

Social psychology includes the study of attitudes, persuasion, self-understandin
Social psychology includes the study of attitudes, persuasion, self-understanding, and people’s everyday behaviors in their relationships with others. In addition, social psychologists study social behavior and how people influence one another. A stereotype is a belief or expectation about a group of people. Prejudice is an unfavorable attitude toward a group of people. It is usually associated with discrimination, which is the unequal treatment of diverse groups.
Decades ago, Americans admitted their prejudices openly. Today, most people believe in fair treatment for everyone, or so they say. However, are people as unprejudiced as they claim to be? Researchers have sought ways to measure subtle prejudices people do not want to admit. A popular method is the implicit association test (IAT), which measures reactions to combinations of categories.
Watch Social Psychology: Stereotypes, Prejudice, & Discrimination: Defining Terms.

Then, reflect on your lived experiences and answer any three (3) of the questions below:
When have you been stereotyped?
What are the narratives surrounding your stereotyping experiences?
How did they make you feel?
How did you know you were being stereotyped?
How is the stereotype perpetuated?
Do you know others who have had to deal with a similar stereotype?
Do you know of any films, commercials, or books that reinforce this stereotype?
What can you do to manage these situations?
How do you want people to perceive you?
What can you do to change people’s perceptions? -

One common practice in higher education and many professions is the academic conference. Attending conferences allows one to network; hear about the latest research, trends in industry, and practical applications of key insight from the field; and share and receive feedback on one’s own work. For this discussion, you will be participating in a mock conference, presenting the final presentation that you completed in Week 5.
Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, review Getting Your Master’s? Go to a Conference Links to an external site.and Writing an Abstract Links to an external site.. Then, complete the following:
For your initial post, write an abstract (maximum 100 words) that succinctly summarizes your Week 5 Social Psychological Analysis of a Cultural Artifact final presentation. In addition to your abstract, attach your presentation (or a link to it) and your written transcriipt.
Note: In this forum, you are graded primarily on your peer feedback, rather than your initial post (in contrast to previous weeks). More than any other discussion forum, the Class Conference requires meaningful interaction.
Your responses should discriminate relevant social psychological insight and show sophisticated cultural competence.
You must contribute a minimum of five or more substantive peer replies, as well as responding to those who comment on your work, which will simulate the dialogue that takes place at a real conference.
You must participate on multiple days, which will contribute to an ongoing dialogue.
You must provide original, insightful, relevant content, which will enhance insight on the topic at hand.
You must reply via video for one of your responses. (See How To Leave a Video Comment Links to an external site.for instructions.) If you are not able to do this, please contact your instructor to arrange an alternative option to satisfy this requirement.
Your initial post should include an abstract (100-word maximum) as well as your final presentation. The presentation will include a visual component (either the document itself or a link to it), in addition to a written transcriipt, formatted in APA Style (1000-word minimum).
Guided Response: Note the goal of the discussion forum is to provide a learning opportunity via meaningful and interactive discourse. Therefore, robust and continued commentary is essential. Responses must explicitly address concepts covered in Weeks 1 through 5, citing information from the required resources or other relevant resources in APA Style. Give examples to illustrate and explain content. In addition, responses must demonstrate critical insight. Respond to at least five of your classmates by Day 7. In addition, respond to classmates (and the instructor, if applicable) who replied to your initial post.
The following general suggestions may be useful as you craft your replies:
Ask clarifying or thought-provoking questions.
Discuss your own interpretation of the cultural artifact.
Give examples from your own experiences or observations that support or challenge the assertions of your classmate(s).
Share additional relevant insight from the literature. -

Job Performance Criteria
In this discussion, compare two different types of job performance criteria. For the unit assignment, what type of information are you using to determine which type of job performance (or job performance model) is most appropriate for the job you are analyzing in this course? When you complete your job analysis, you will begin to consider which selection assessments will be most appropriate for the job you are analyzing and consider the validity for that assessment type. Based on the unit readings related to validity, what type of evidence will be important to gather to support the validity of the inferences drawn from selection assessment scores for the job you are analyzing? You may choose to discuss one source of validity evidence—content, construct, or criterion—for this discussion.
