    ANSWER

Academic and Career Goals and Objectives

From a young age, I have been fascinated by the human mind and its complexities. I have always been drawn to the idea of helping others, and I believe that psychology provides a unique and powerful platform for making a positive impact on people’s lives. My long-term career plan is to pursue a career in mental health counseling and ultimately establish my own practice.

My primary area of interest within psychology is clinical mental health, which focuses on understanding and treating mental disorders. I am particularly drawn to this field because it offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals and make a significant difference in their lives. Mental health counseling can help people cope with a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. I am passionate about providing compassionate and effective care to those who need it most.

One of the reasons I am interested in this program is that it provides a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of clinical mental health counseling. I will gain knowledge of various psychological theories, assessment tools, and therapeutic techniques. The program will also allow me to gain hands-on experience through practicum placements, which will provide me with the opportunity to apply my skills in a real-world setting.

I am particularly excited about the opportunity to work with clients from diverse backgrounds. I believe that mental health is a universal human experience, and I am committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care. I am also committed to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and advocating for the importance of mental health services.

In addition to my career goals, I am also interested in pursuing research opportunities in clinical mental health. I believe that research is essential for advancing our understanding of mental illness and developing effective treatment strategies. I am eager to contribute to the body of knowledge in this field and make a lasting impact on the lives of others.

I am confident that this program will provide me with the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve my academic and career goals. I am excited to embark on this journey and make a positive difference in the field of mental health.

    Hello class!
The type of learning I would in the instance of potty training my daughter would be socio-cognitive. It’s interesting that this had been this week’s topic as I have trying to navigate the avenues of parenthood and potty training this past week. While there are many methods in going about potty-training a child, I’ve quickly learned that one method does not always work for all children as they all learn and develop at different rates. How I would introduce the idea of potty training with my daughter would be to allow her to put potty-training underwear or pull-ups on her favorite stuffed animal, right now it is currently a dinosaur, and encourage her multiple times a day to have her stuffed animal use the potty. I would first show her how to train the dinosaur into using the toilet, and once the toy has completed it’s “business” I would celebrate and dance and add a sticker for successfully using the potty. Once my daughter has seen how I have reacted to the dinosaur, she will want to teach the dinosaur to use the bathroom as well. This enables her to know that using the toilet proactively receives a positive response from those around her. I think this scenario is appropriate in introducing potty-training to young children as the using toilets in unfamiliar homes or in public locations can be uncomfortable for children at times. With the exposure of allowing her dinosaur to “use the potty” in places other than at home, it allows her to become more comfortable in those settings over time. – Claudette

Pretend you are a “mad scientist” in the process of creating Frankenstein’s monster. To complete the “monster,” you must transplant a brain, however, you have run into a major problem- there are no whole brains available! Thus, you must now go to the local brain junkyard and create the monster’s brain, using ONLY 5 anatomical parts and 3 neurotransmitters!
Monster: an imaginary creature with human and/or animal features, that may include but is not limited to, being unusual, powerful, and/or extremely large in size.
First, decide on a type of monster. What behaviors, skills, and/or personality characteristics will the monster have?
Next, choose the 5 most important anatomical parts of the brain needed to get this monster going. Explain WHY these parts of the brain were chosen.
Identify and describe the functions of at least 3 neurotransmitters important in the creation of the monster’s brain.
Finally, just for fun, what is the monster’s name?

Chapter 2 covers “cognitive neuroscience” – a catchy and impressive sounding item. What is cognitive neuroscience and how does it apply to you personally and professionally? Why is it important to study this particular field of psychology? How will you apply this to your personal and professional life?
Perception – objects look different from different viewpoints and where perception meets memory. Looking at the various theories – can you see why two people can see or hear the same thing differently? This is why eye-witness testimony is suspect (pardon the pun) but yet is crucial in many criminal prosecutions. What are your thoughts on perception? Which theory stands out as the “best” explanation?
