Congratulations! You have completed your data collection and performed the needed statistics to analyze your results.
For your signature assignment, you will take these results and put them into a written report, similar to what you would write in your research methods course. However, this paper will focus on the results and discussion of your findings. For this paper, include the following:
Your paper should have the following sections: Introduction, methodology, analysis, results and conclusions.
State the hypothesis you tested. This includes the research question and the null and alternative hypotheses.
Describe the variables you used including open-ended questions where participants provided their opinions.
Discuss the survey you used to collect your data. Did you run into any issues? Did you have to change anything? Include that survey as an appendix.
Analyze your results. Include a summary of the open-ended questions. What statistical test did you use? Why? What did you find? Did you calculate the results correctly?
Include at least one table or figure we discussed in class for your statistics.
Interpret your results. What do your results mean as it relates to public health policies and practice? This is the discussion portion of your paper.
Finally, was your null hypothesis rejected, or did you fail to reject it? What are the implications of your findings as they pertain to public health policies and practices? Include sources that support your implications. This is your general conclusion on your findings.
Your paper should be between four and six pages in length (not including the cover page, references, and appendix).
Use current APA Style and cite your sources. Your sources should be integrated into the paragraphs. Use internal citations pointing to evidence in the literature and supporting your ideas. You will need to include a reference page listing those sources.

Please read the article below (for educational use only) and answer the questions that follow which include asking you to find and review an article on revenue cycle management in healthcare and share its title and url. Chapter Ten discussed revenue cycle management and its importance, components of the revenue cycle and methods to improve the flow of revenue (ie manage) in your healthcare organization)
Intermountain revenue cycle exec says integration is a decade-long process
Todd Craghead has been at the forefront of integrating revenue cycle for a large health system.
    Susan Morse, Associate Editor
Todd Craghead, vice president of Revenue Cycle Organization at Intermountain Healthcare, has been at the forefront of integrating revenue cycle for a large health system.
Ten years ago, Craghead, who oversees $5 billion in annual gross patient revenue for the Utah health system, began consolidating revenue cycle functions across 22 hospitals and over 100 physician clinics.
“We had a system that was fairly decentralized,” he said. “One of the things that was apparent was the pressure on administrative costs to the health system. One of the things I was asked to do was to develop a more consolidated approach.
Without standardization, there was a wide variation in practices.
Each individual hospital had a director who reported to the CFO.
That model, was “tipped on its head,” Craghead said. “We looked at those directors and went through a process of their areas of passion. One took accountability across the entire system, another patient access — we switched over to a subset of areas.”
    It was challenging, he said.
Revenue Cycle directors were used to dealing with an individual hospital’s accounts receivables balance, or with payers who were not paying, and could use the resources to try and solve those issues.
Now these efforts were being redirected.
“It was difficult, folks were used to having control over resources,” he said. “We had a process across a group of hospitals that were operating more or less independently in this area.”
    Staffing levels were also reduced.
“We continue to see reductions in staffing levels in this environment,” he said. “We’re better able to leverage standardized workflow tools to manage productivity. It was very instrumental in understanding what staff was needed to do the work.”
Across the system, Intermountain has A/R days in a very reasonable range; denial rates are half a percent, Craghead said.
“A centralized appeals team have kept our denial rates low, some of the lowest I’ve seen in the country,” he said.
Craghead, who will discuss the process of how he centralized revenue cycle during the Revenue Cycle Solutions Summit on December 8 in Atlanta, has also changed the reporting relationship with the business office.
“Organizationally, we identified functions that made sense to be managed together,” he said.
The registration area, and pre-registration and insurance verification were organized into a hierarchy, he said.
“Executives who had accountability across functions all report directly through one revenue cycle executive on my team, and he has a director who focuses on pre-registration and scheduling functions,” Craghead said.
There are four regional office locations where the business office functions are performed.
“Likewise they report to a single executive on my team,” he said.
Ten years later, “There are still opportunities for improvement,” he said.
The next challenge is price transparency and patient engagement.
Pre-registration can already be done online at Intermountain, and when patients arrive at many locations, they have access to kiosks that have an automated system, Craghead said. Or, they can still speak to a staff member.
“Price transparency and price estimating I think it’s been a very challenging topic of the industry to tackle as a whole,” he said. “It may be around sensitivity to payer-based contracts, to estimate out- of-pocket costs, which may be different than what they pay for a particular service.”
Providers have the problem of being able to understand where the patient is in the benefit structure, such as what they’re paying for a deductible.
“If I can’t clearly understand that information,” he said, “then we miscalculate out-of-pocket costs.”
Patients are also taking a more proactive approach as they pay a greater share of their healthcare costs.
“I think it’s going to continue to be a challenge for health systems to estimate what the patient might be expected to pay for a service,” he said. “I believe the payers need to take a more active role than they have in the past, to provide an estimate to members.”
Intermountain has a health plan as part of its network that has been a good test of the function between provider and payer.
“I think we’ve had interesting outcomes,” he said. “How to integrate provider and payer when you’re one company as we are.”

  • This week we are learning about ordinal/categorical, continuous, and dichotomous

This week we are learning about ordinal/categorical, continuous, and dichotomous variables. Using the Gestation Demographics SEU dataset that is located in the tabs at the bottom of the Framingham dataset provided, perform the following problems using R Studio or Excel.Create a simple distribution graph (histogram) where we will explore the age of women after giving birth to their first child. Remember that a histogram consists of parallel vertical bars that show the frequency distribution of a quantitative variable in the graph. See the example in Introductory Statistics with R on pages 71-7 or pages 123-124 in EXCEL statistics A quick guide. The area of each bar is equal to the frequency of items found in each class.
Determine the mean age of the women in the Gestation Demographics SEU dataset.
We will be testing the hypothesis that the mean age (μ = μ0) for women is 37 years in the Gestation Demographics SEU dataset. The topic of hypothesis testing was introduced in HCM505. If you need a review see Chapter 7 of our text.
H0 The mean age of women giving birth is 37 years old. (Null Hypothesis)
H1 The mean age of women giving birth is not 37 years old. (Alternative Hypothesis)Ensure to submit the following requirements for the assignment:Present your findings in a Word document, by copying and pasting the histogram into the document.
After your analysis state whether you accept or reject the null hypothesis and your reasoning why.
Always use a title page, an introduction, a discussion where you interpret the meaning of the histogram, and a conclusion should be included.
Your submission should be 2–3 pages to discuss and display your findings.
Provide support for your statements with in-text citations from a minimum of two scholarly, peer-reviewed articles. One of these sources may be from the class readings, textbook, or lectures, but the others must be external. The Saudi Digital Library is a good place to find these sources and should be your primary resource for conducting research.
Follow APA 7th edition and Saudi Electronic University writing standards.
