    Ethical-Legal Dilemma, Prescribing Pain Medication
4 days after having a devastating traffic accident which totaled his car, Dr. John Brown, a 36-year-old physician that you have been working with at a primary care clinic for the past 6 months since graduating from UC FNP program, starts complaining of severe left shoulder and neck pain. Immediately following his accident, Dr. Brown had been taken to the local Emergency Room. He was hospitalized overnight and numerous x-rays and scans were done. Dr. Brown suffered a severe left AC separation and cervical strain. Unfortunately there was no orthopedic coverage the night he was there so he was placed in a sling and swathe and given an orthopedic follow-up. Upon discharge the hospitalist prescribed him Tramadol 50 mg PO every 6 hours as needed for pain. Dr. Brown insisted on returning to work until having shoulder surgery. You overhear Dr. Brown talking on his phone with the hospitalist who treated him and complaining that the Tramadol is not helping the pain. Dr. Brown becomes agitated and is yelling at the other physician, demanding Percocet 10/325 mg tablets. After failing to convince the hospitalist, he slams his phone down. He is scheduled to see the orthopedic surgeon in 3 days as soon as he is back in town. Being unable to self-prescribe, Dr. Brown turns to you and begs you to write him enough Percocets to take every 6 hours for the next 2 weeks. You feel sorry for Dr. Brown because you can see he is in pain but you have never treated him before as a patient and you are unsure about calling this medication in for him.

Write 2-3 paragraph response statement to the following questions:
    1. What are the legal dilemmas in this case study? Please refer to the KBN website for assistance.
    2. What are the ethical violations occurring in this scenario?
    3. How should the APRN handle this situation? How could this adversely effect the physician-NP relationship in the future?
Include one ethical principle and one KY law that could be potentially violated and whether the violation would constitute a civil or criminal act based on facts. Support the legal issues with prior legal cases or state or federal statutes. Support your dilemma with statistics, KBN regulations on prescribing and or evidence-based research form a peer reviewed journal article. List three recommendations that will resolve advanced practice nurses’ moral distress in the dilemma. This is a fact-based assignment and should not include your opinion. Please make sure to cite all references appropriately.

In 200 words discuss the five conceptions of age (chronological, biological, social, psychological, and perceived) and provide an example of each. How do these different conceptualizations of age shape our understanding and experiences of aging? In what ways do they intersect and in what ways do they diverge? How do these conceptualizations of age relate to the issues of ageism and stereotypes of aging?

I would like you to write a Common App personal statement essay similar to the attached file. Unfortunately, I am unable to get my ideas across properly, so I would like the essay to be about my relationship with my sick grandmother and how her illness and death inspired me to pursue a career in nursing. As a young girl, I grew up in an extended family so I was constantly trying to help those around me.

  • How do your experiences compare to Erikson’s life stage assumptions?

Using the psychosocial theoretical concepts of life stages, examine your own life activities, behaviors, and things you are learning during each period of your life.
Give a summary of your life situations in each of Erikson’s stages. How do your experiences compare to Erikson’s life stage assumptions? Explain.
What role have environment and culture played in shaping your behavior and activities, values, and views of those with differing backgrounds?
Discuss how Erikson’s life stage theory is useful to the helping professional. If you do not believe his life stage theory is useful then explain your opinion.
Your paperrr should follow the template of Erikson’s life stages. Use at least four peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles in addition to the course text. This paperrrr should be six to eight pagesss in APA format.

  • This week we are learning about ordinal/categorical, continuous, and dichotomous

This week we are learning about ordinal/categorical, continuous, and dichotomous variables. Using the Gestation Demographics SEU dataset that is located in the tabs at the bottom of the Framingham dataset provided, perform the following problems using R Studio or Excel. Create a simple distribution graph (histogram) where we will explore the age of women after giving birth to their first child. Remember that a histogram consists of parallel vertical bars that show the frequency distribution of a quantitative variable in the graph. See the example in Introductory Statistics with R on pages 71-7 or pages 123-124 in EXCEL statistics A quick guide. The area of each bar is equal to the frequency of items found in each class. Determine the mean age of the women in the Gestation Demographics SEU dataset. We will be testing the hypothesis that the mean age (μ = μ0) for women is 37 years in the Gestation Demographics SEU dataset. The topic of hypothesis testing was introduced in HCM505. If you need a review see Chapter 7 of our text. H0 The mean age of women giving birth is 37 years old. (Null Hypothesis) H1 The mean age of women giving birth is not 37 years old. (Alternative Hypothesis) Ensure to submit the following requirements for the assignment: Present your findings in a Word document, by copying and pasting the histogram into the document. After your analysis state whether you accept or reject the null hypothesis and your reasoning why. Always use a title page, an introduction, a discussion where you interpret the meaning of the histogram, and a conclusion should be included. Your submission should be 2–3 pages to discuss and display your findings. Provide support for your statements with in-text citations from a minimum of two scholarly, peer-reviewed articles. One of these sources may be from the class readings, textbook, or lectures, but the others must be external. The Saudi Digital Library is a good place to find these sources and should be your primary resource for conducting research. Follow APA 7th edition. • Why are smaller p-values indicative of stronger evidence against the null hypothesis?

Nice start! As we are discussing probability this week, I’d like to follow up on your statement that “More grounded proof against the null hypothesis is shown by smaller p-values.” Why are smaller p-values indicative of stronger evidence against the null hypothesis? That is, what does the p value represent in terms of probability?

    ANSWER
The p-value represents the probability of obtaining the observed results, or more extreme results, assuming that the null hypothesis is true. A smaller p-value means that it is less likely to obtain the observed results if the null hypothesis is true. Therefore, smaller p-values are indicative of stronger evidence against the null hypothesis.

Another way to think about it is that the p-value is a measure of the compatibility of the observed data with the null hypothesis. A smaller p-value means that the observed data is less compatible with the null hypothesis.

    Here is an example:

Suppose we are conducting a hypothesis test to determine whether a new drug is effective in treating a certain disease. The null hypothesis is that the drug is not effective. We conduct a clinical trial and find that the drug is significantly more effective than the placebo. This means that the p-value is very small.

The small p-value indicates that it is very unlikely to obtain the observed results if the null hypothesis is true. Therefore, we can conclude that there is strong evidence against the null hypothesis and that the drug is effective.

It is important to note that the p-value is not the same as the probability that the null hypothesis is true. The p-value only tells us how likely it is to obtain the observed results if the null hypothesis is true. It does not tell us whether the null hypothesis is actually true or false.

To decide whether to reject the null hypothesis, we need to consider the p-value and the significance level. The significance level is the maximum p-value that we are willing to tolerate before rejecting the null hypothesis. It is typically set to 0.05.

If the p-value is less than the significance level, then we reject the null hypothesis. This means that we conclude that there is sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis and that the alternative hypothesis is more likely to be true.

If the p-value is greater than the significance level, then we fail to reject the null hypothesis. This means that we do not have sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis and that the alternative hypothesis is not more likely to be true.
