Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance. For years, this approach was a three-pronged one known as the Triple Aim, with efforts focused on improved population health, enhanced patient experience, and lower healthcare costs.
More recently, this approach has evolved to a Quadruple Aim by including a focus on improving the work life of healthcare providers. Each of these measures are impacted by decisions made at the organizational level, and organizations have increasingly turned to EBP to inform and justify these decision
To Prepare:
Read the articles by Sikka, Morath, & Leape (2015); Crabtree, Brennan, Davis, & Coyle (2016); and Kim et al. (2016) provided in the Resources.
Reflect on how EBP might impact (or not impact) the Quadruple Aim in healthcare.
Consider the impact that EBP may have on factors impacting these quadruple aim elements, such as preventable medical errors or healthcare delivery.
To Complete:
Write a brief analysis () of the connection between EBP and the Quadruple Aim.
Your analysis should address how EBP might (or might not) help reach the Quadruple Aim, including each of the four measures of:
Patient experience
Population health
Costs
Work life of healthcare providers

This is going to be a collaborative effort between you and me. I have identified the unsafe use of alarm systems which could cause alarm fatigue as a practice violation or area for improvement that poses a threat to patient safety in my area of practice (Hospital). In the intensive care unit where I practice, there are numerous alarm systems that go off randomly and not requiring actions. sometimes nurses have become desensitized, and alarm fatigued and so have missed or are slow to respond to alarms needing critical attention.
I have chosen NPSGs Goal 6:
Reduce patient harm associated with clinical alarm systems and the associated elements that need to be addressed are as follows:
1. Identify the most important alarm signals to manage based on the following:
– Input from the medical staff and clinical departments
– Risk to patients if the alarm signal is not attended to or if it malfunctions
– Whether specific alarm signals are needed or unnecessarily contribute to alarm noise and alarm
fatigue
– Potential for patient harm based on internal incident history
– Published best practices and guidelines
2. Establish policies and procedures for managing the alarms identified in EP 2 above that, at a
minimum, address the following:
– Clinically appropriate settings for alarm signals
– When alarm signals can be disabled
– When alarm parameters can be changed
– Who in the organization has the authority to set alarm parameters
– Who in the organization has the authority to change alarm parameters
– Who in the organization has the authority to set alarm parameters to “off”
– Monitoring and responding to alarm signals
– Checking individual alarm signals for accurate settings, proper operation, and detectability
3. Educate staff and licensed independent practitioners about the purpose and proper operation of alarm systems for which they are responsible.
Items 1-4 on the instructions are where I need help. for item 4 I only need the slides. I will take care of the video. -

Directions:
Today’s healthcare environment gives nurses many reasons to be conflicted. Genetic testing, abortion, and end of life care are just some of the areas in which nurses may face ethical dilemmas. Consider how you feel about the following issues:
Respecting the wishes of a suffering client that he is permitted to die with dignity,
Respecting the health surrogate’s wishes regarding termination of life support,
Or even observing another nurse take two tablets of oxycodone as ordered but keeping one for herself.
Then give an example of an ethical dilemma you may have confronted in your own clinical experience or workplace. How did you come to the decision you made? What feelings did you experience while coming to that choice? (If you have not yet faced an ethical dilemma, research one and comment on it, answering the same questions.) -

Select a community organization or group that you feel would be interested in learning about ethical and policy issues that affect the coordination of care. Then, develop and record a 10-12-slide, 20-minute presentation, with audio, intended for that audience. Create a detailed narrative script or speakers notes for your presentation, 4-5 pages in length.IntroductionAs coordinators of care, nurses must be aware of the code of ethics for nurses and health policy issues that affect the coordination of care within the context of the community. To help patients navigate the continuum of care, nurses must be proficient at interpreting and applying the code of ethics for nurses and health policy, specifically, the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Being knowledgeable about ethical and policy issues helps ensure that care coordinators are upholding ethical standards and navigating policy issues that affect patient care. This assessment provides an opportunity for you to develop a presentation for a local community organization of your choice, which provides an overview of ethical standards and relevant policy issues that affect the coordination of care. Completing this assessment will strengthen your understanding of ethical issues and policies related to the coordination and continuum of care, and will empower you to be a stronger advocate and nursing professional. It would be an excellent choice to complete the Vila Health: Ethical Decision Making activity prior to developing the presentation. The activity provides a helpful update on the ethical principles that will help with success in this assessment.PreparationYour nurse manager at the community care center is well connected and frequently speaks to a variety of community organizations and groups. She has noticed the good work you are doing in your new care coordination role and respects your speaking and presentation skills. Consequently, she thought that an opportunity to speak publicly about contemporary issues in care coordination would be beneficial for your career and has suggested reaching out to a community organization or support group to gauge their interest in hearing from you, as a care center representative, on a topic of interest to both you and your prospective audience. You have agreed that this is a good idea and have decided to research a community organization or support group that might be interested in learning about ethical and policy issues related to the coordination of care. Your manager has suggested the following community organizations and support groups, but acknowledges that the choice is yours.Homeless shelters.
Local religious groups.
Nursing homes.
Local community organizations (Rotary Club or Kiwanis Club).
To prepare for this assessment, you may wish to:Research your selected community organization or support group.
Review the Code of Ethics for Nurses With Interpretive Statements and associated health policy issues, specifically, the ACA.
Review the assessment instructions and scoring guide to ensure you understand the work you will be asked to complete.
Allocate sufficient time to rehearse your presentation before recording the final version for submission.
Recording Equipment Setup and TestingCheck that your audio speaker and PowerPoint software are working properly. You can record audio directly to your slides, using PowerPoint or other presentation software.Note: Technical support about the use of PowerPoint, including voice recording and speaker notes, can be found on Campus’s Microsoft Office Software page.If using Kaltura, refer to the Using Kaltura tutorial for directions on recording and uploading your presentation in the courseroom.
InstructionsFor this assessment:Choose the community organization or support group that you plan to address.
Develop a PowerPoint with typed speaker notes (the script for your voice recording) and audio voice-over recording, intended for that audience. Video is not required.
Note: PowerPoint has a feature to type the speaker notes directly into the presentation. You are encouraged to use that feature or you may choose to submit a separate document. See Microsoft Office Software for technical support about the use of PowerPoint, including voice recording and speaker notes. For this assessment, develop your presentation slides and speaker notes, then record your presentation. You are not required to deliver your presentation to an actual audience.Presentation Format and LengthYou may use PowerPoint (recommended) or other suitable presentation software to create your slides and add your voice over. If you elect to use an application other than PowerPoint, check with your faculty to avoid potential file compatibility issues.Be sure that your slide deck includes the following slides:Title slide.Presentation title.
Your name.
Date.
Course number and title.
References (at the end of your presentation).
Your slide deck should consist of 10–12 slides, not including a title and references slide with typed speaker notes and audio voice over. Your presentation should not exceed 20 minutes.Create a detailed narrative script for your presentation, approximately 4–5 pages in length.Supporting EvidenceCite 3–5 credible sources from peer-reviewed journals or professional industry publications to support your presentation. Include your source citations on a references page appended to your narrative script.Grading RequirementsThe requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the Ethical and Policy Factors in Care Coordination Scoring Guide, so be sure to address each point. Read the performance-level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed.Explain how governmental policies related to the health and/or safety of the community affect the coordination of care.Provide examples of a specific policy affecting the organization or group.
Refer to the assessment resources for help in locating relevant policies.
Be sure influential policies include the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
Identify national, state, and local policy provisions that raise ethical questions or dilemmas for care coordination. What are the implications and consequences of specific policy provisions?
What evidence do you have to support your conclusions?
Assess the impact of the code of ethics for nurses on the coordination and continuum of care.Consider the factors that contribute to health, health disparities, and access to services.
Consider the social determinants of health identified in Healthy People 2020 as a framework for your assessment.
Provide evidence to support your conclusions.
Communicate key ethical and policy issues in a presentation affecting the coordination and continuum of care for a selected community organization or support group. Either speaker notes or audio voice-over are included for a proficient score; both speaker notes and the audio voice over are included for a distinguished score.Present a concise overview.
Support your main points and conclusions with relevant and credible evidence.
Additional RequirementsBefore submitting your assessment, proofread your presentation slides and speaker notes to minimize errors that could distract readers and make it more difficult for them to focus on the substance of your presentation.Portfolio Prompt: Save your presentation to your ePortfolio. Submissions to the ePortfolio will be part of your final Capstone course.Competencies MeasuredBy successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the course competencies through the following assessment scoring guide criteria:Competency 4: Defend decisions based on the code of ethics for nursing.Assess the impact of the code of ethics for nurses on the coordination and continuum of care.
Competency 5: Explain how health care policies affect patient-centered care.Explain how governmental policies related to the health and/or safety of a community affect the coordination of care.
Identify national, state, and local policy provisions that raise ethical questions or dilemmas for care coordination.
Competency 6: Apply professional, scholarly communication strategies to lead patient-centered care.Communicate key ethical and policy issues in a presentation affecting the coordination and continuum of care for a selected community organization or support group. Either speaker notes or audio voice-over are included.

For this discussion, take the factors that affect a test’s utility into consideration, which was identified in your Psychological Testing and Assessment text as:
Psychometric soundness.
Costs.
Benefits.
In addition, take into account practical considerations when conducting utility analyses, which include:
The pool of applicants.
The complexity of the job.
The use of cut scores.
In considering these things, this week’s discussion asks you to identify three specific measures for a management assessment center addressing selection, placement, promotion, and career training. Follow the guidelines below in your post:
Identify a specific instrument for each of the following areas:
Ability or aptitude testing.
Occupational career or interests.
Personality.
Discuss one advantage and one disadvantage in selecting these tests for the battery.
Identify at least one issue regarding factors of utility and utility analysis with this battery of tests.
Include how you would evaluate the effectiveness of incorporating your measures into this battery. How would you determine that the three tests are adequate for addressing the purposes of selection, placement, promotion, and career training?
Include if and how computerized assessment could be incorporated into your battery or evaluation. -

Please NUMBER and answer the questions in your initial post.
1. Describe a smell that causes you to have strong emotional
memories. Explain the process in the nervous system that allows
this to occur.
2. In what ways would your life change if you lost your hearing?
3. If your biological parents had Huntington’s disease, would you
want to know if they passed the dominant allele to you? Why or
why not?
STEP 1
You must read the slides for Shapiro chapters 6, 7, 8 BEFORE posting in this discussion.
You should also read and annotate those chapters in Shapiro or Noba (see Noba notes in this module for the corresponding chapters).
You need to use the terms covered in the material above when talking about the senses in your discussion below.
Show me that you understand the chapters and can apply the concepts when talking about your own experiences. This is part of the points for this discussion.

In what ways would your life change if you lost your hearing?
If your biological parents had Huntington’s disease, would you want to know if they passed the dominant allele to you? Why or why not?
Here is a sample initial post:
1) Describe a smell that causes you to have strong emotional memories. Explain the process in the nervous system that allows this to occur.
I have a visceral reaction to pizza, especially deep-dish pizza. When I had to go through chemotherapy, I was nauseated for the first 10-14 days after each chemo session. I could not hold down any food. My spouse decided to get deep-dish pizza during one of these times. Every time they heated up the leftover pizza in the microwave, the strong smell would fill the house. Random smells made me nauseous during chemo. To this day, I do not like/enjoy pizza the same way that I used to.
(insert the process the NS allows this to occur) *not writing this as it is similar for each person.
2) In what ways would your life change if you lost your hearing?
I think it would be a very isolating experience to lose your hearing. I once read that blind people can still be very social in society because they hear everything that is going on around them and they can participate. Blind people can still speak to communicate. When you are deaf, you can feel left out when you do not know what others are saying or doing around you. Everything is silent and it is as if you do not speak the same language. For example, others do not speak ASL. I watched this one documentary called Sound and Fury (2000). It was about deaf culture and how some of them do not want to get a cochlear implant to gain hearing. They are proud of their deaf culture.
3) If your biological parents had Huntington’s disease, would you want to know if they passed the dominant allele to you? Why or why not?
Yes, I would want to know whether I would develop Huntington’s disease in my 40’s. The earlier for me to know, the better because then I would not have kids. I do not want to pass this genetic disease to them. It would make their life hard and my life hard as well. This world does not need more people anyway. We are overpopulated. I always want to know as much as I can so that I can make educated decisions and I am more prepared for the future. -

This activity is called “The Four Listeners” and is to be completed by your group in your Puzzling with Peers forum. You will be asked to create a short story or scene based on different types of listening. Here’s what to do:
Step 1: Refresh yourself on these listening tendencies (see Ch. 6)
Mindful listening
Literal listening
Listening to support others
Defensive listening
Monopolizing
Selective listening
I choose Monopolizing
Step 2: Have each peer choose a different listening tendency
To build a character around.
Step 3: Make your individual post and describe your character
Write a paragraph or two thoroughly describing who this person is and why they embody this type of listening. Bring your character to life!

1 = The notion that policy agendas are derived from problems is a logical one. You wouldn’t work to develop policy around an area that wasn’t a problem, after all. Think about some of the healthcare policies we have today. The policies surrounding the use of tobacco is one example that was based on a problem. Can you think of others? Are there any you can name that has not yet been resolved? Are there any that you would feel strongly enough about to work to make a change? How would you personally go about making an impact on a particular policy agenda?
2 = We have seen a huge rise in the use of social media along with some potential problems in the healthcare space, especially during a pandemic. However, recent articles have been written that tout social media as a way to aid in advancing the quality of healthcare. One idea is using Facebook as an information-sharing environment or support group for patients and physicians in treating chronic diseases such as diabetes. What is your feeling on the role of social media in the healthcare arena? What security measures would be required? What are the pros and cons?
