Create a 6-8 slide presentation (with detailed speaker’s notes) on how you would select, foster collaboration among, and educate a team dedicated to solving a diversity issue.
Introduction
Assessments 2 and 3 are based on the same scenario, so you must complete them in the order in which they are presented.
Finding, organizing, and motivating teams is a key leadership skill as is the ability to communicate and present information.
Overview
In this assessment, you will continue your work from Assessment 2 by creating a 6–8 slide PowerPoint presentation for the diversity project kickoff meeting.
Preparation
Review the Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations [PPTX] for guidelines and hints for an effective presentation.
Review Using Kaltura if you are using this courseroom tool to record your presentation.
Use the PowerPoint Template [PPTX] to complete this assessment.
Scenario
Imagine that your boss Lynnette follows up with you in an email shortly after reading your views on leadership and collaboration:
Hi,
Thanks for sending me your thoughts last week on the diversity issue at the clinic. Your next step is to select a team of professionals who can help you in this project and prepare an introduction of the project for a first meeting with them.
I want you to prepare a presentation to serve as a brief but substantive introduction for the first meeting with a group of 4–5 members who will participate on the committee tasked with addressing the diversity issue. Once I review more information about the proposed team I can help you with the recruitment. The presentation should be 5–7 minutes and use 6–8 slides with detailed speaker’s notes so I can understand your approach. Not a lot of time or space, so keep things pretty high level. Do the following:
Briefly outline the project goals and highlight 2–3 of the initial priorities to be addressed by the group. Also, explain why they are important.
Explain the composition of the team and why you chose them. Note that you will not know the exact individuals yet, but assume we will recruit the people with the desired qualities and characteristics you outline in the presentation. Consider the following:Include a group of professionals you believe can help define the problem and ultimately make recommendations on how to address it.
Make sure each member is either trained in, sensitive to, or has experience with the concept of workplace diversity.
Give some thought to having some members from outside the organization.
Provide member profiles: their diversity, qualifications, experience, internal versus external, and so forth.
Explain your role and describe how the committee will work together and achieve effective interprofessional collaboration. Describe how the group will communicate. How and when they will meet.
Describe how ideas will be shared and decisions made.
Describe roles, group function, and structure.
Describe the basic characteristics of a diverse workplace.
Provide a convincing argument regarding the benefits of a diverse workforce using support from current research. Thanks,
Lynnette
Instructions
For this assessment:
Create a 6–8 slide PowerPoint presentation in response to the content defined in the above scenario.
Create an audio recording (5–7 minutes) of the PowerPoint presentation using Kaltura or similar software.
Note: If you require the use of assistive technology or alternative communication methods to participate in this activity, please contact DisabilityServices@Capella.edu to request accommodations.
Presentation Guidelines
Your assessment should also meet the following requirements:
Length: 6–8 PowerPoint slides (not including title slide) that would accompany a 5–7 minute oral presentation.
Notes: Prepare detailed speaker’s notes describing items on each slide so that the viewer can accurately interpret the deeper meanings and intentions that would have been conveyed orally. Support your claims, arguments, and conclusions with credible evidence from 2–3 current, scholarly or professional sources.
Visuals: Create visuals that are easily read and interpreted. Use colors, fonts, and formatting and other design principles that make the information clear and generally add to the aesthetic of the presentation.
Please refer to the scoring guide below for details on how your assessment will be evaluated. -

Compare the features, benefits, and capabilities of two versions of a similar technology that can be used for teaching, learning, or assessment in nursing education, using the Technology Comparison Template provided. Then, determine which teaching and learning situations the technology is best suited for and how it can be incorporated into a specific nursing education program.
Introduction
Note: Each assessment in this course builds upon the work you have completed in previous assessments. Therefore, complete the assessments in the order in which they are presented.
When comparing educational technologies and evaluating their suitability for particular teaching and learning situations, it is important to determine how nurse educators will use the technology and how well it fits into the organization’s existing nursing education strategy. Successful integration of new or updated technology into the nursing education environment depends on how well you understand the role of technology in education and training. When considering new technologies, it is sometimes easy to let a product’s impressive but non-value-added bells and whistles influence decision making, which could have an adverse impact on learning outcomes.
This assessment provides an opportunity for you to examine the capabilities of a selected type of educational technology, how it is used in specific educational settings, and how it can be integrated into an existing nursing education program.
Note: Complete the assessments in this course in the order in which they are presented.
Preparation
Whether your needs assessment identified shortfalls in the use of current educational technology, the need for an upgrade to existing technology, or the need for new technology, you know that knowledge of current technologies is key to making informed decisions when considering improvements to existing educational programs. Consequently, you have decided to examine the features, capabilities, and benefits of comparable educational technologies you are either planning to incorporate into your educational program now or would consider as a potential future acquisition.
To prepare for the assessment, you are encouraged to identify two similar educational technologies for comparison and the teaching and learning situations this type technology is best suited for. In addition, you may wish to review the assessment requirements and scoring guide to ensure you understand the work you will be asked to complete.
Note: As you revise your writing, check out the resources listed on the Writing Center’s Writing Support page.
The following resources are required to complete the assessment.

A NATIVE AMERICAN GIRL AT RISK FOR CULTURAL IDENTITY LOSS
An Indian agent arrives at the home of a Native couple who have a 6-year-old female Native child named Velma. According to law, Velma must attend an “Indian” boarding school, which is 25 miles from their home. Velma is forcibly removed from her home and family, flailing and crying for her parents, who are both visibly upset. She is transported to a government “Indian” boarding school. Upon her arrival, Velma is told to remove her clothing. She is “deloused” and clothed in an ill-fitting dress and hard leather lace-up shoes. Velma is then taken to have her hair cropped short and is then brought to a dormitory with many other girls of various ages and tribes. Velma is told that if she needs anything, she must ask for it in English, which is a language she doesn’t speak or understand.
The mornings are spent with housekeeping duties and the afternoons with classwork and learning homemaking skills. The nights are filled with sadness, and the sounds of Velma’s sadness mix with those of others in her dormitory. One night Velma flees the school and makes her way home. The next afternoon the Indian agent arrives with law enforcement and Velma is returned to the “Indian” boarding school. This process is repeated several times until Velma finally accepts her fate. With the exception of a visit during the holidays, she doesn’t see her parents or home for the next 8 years.
When Velma finally “graduates” from the boarding school, she is a stranger in her own home and community, fitting in neither with her Native family nor with the White community.
assigment 1.Using what has been described about acculturation or assimilation, identify three factors that make it difficult for Velma to “fit in at her home.”

This is a lab report you will need to find two articles that is related to perce
This is a lab report you will need to find two articles that is related to perceived life stress and its related construct of interest, after you find it you will have to summarize it
Objectives for Lab 8:
1. Use psyclNFO to search the literature for relevant articles
2. Find two research articles
3. Complete two article summaries (article summary page can be found on Canvas)
FOR this lab report you will have to submit the following:
Literature Review (8pts, 4pts each article)
For this lab, you will be uploading a Word document with a screenshot of your 2 abstracts and your articles summaries for each article
Both articles should be related to your outcome variable of interest.
The ideal scenario is to find one article that would provide background for your group difference hypothesis and one article that would provide background for your correlation hypothesis.
here’s the step how you can find the literature
Accessing psyclNFO
You have a link to the library on your SDSU homepage (sdsu.edu). Click on “menu” then “current student” then scroll down to ACADEMICS and click on “library)
On the Library Homepage, select Databases, then Databases a-z, select the P category, and
scroll down and click on psyclNFO
Doing a search
At the top of the search screen, you have three open boxes where you can put your search
terms.
In the first box, type in your specific class survey topic (self-esteem or perceived life stress)
In the second box, type in the related construct of interest (predictor. – e.g., gender)
On the right side of the screen a couple of rows down, you will see an option called
Publication Year from ______ to ______
Type in 2010 in the first box (this will ensure that our search is recent)
On the right side of the screen a couple of rows down, you will see an option called Peer Reviewed-click that box (this will make sure we only get peer- reviewed journals articles- not dissertations or book chapters)
Click on the Search box (either at the top or the bottom of the page).
Results of a search
At the top, you should see All Results: 1-30 of ____
If this number is above 100, you might want to add another search term or use a synonym for one of the terms you have in the search-this just means your search is still too broad to be beneficial. If this number is reasonable, you can start scrolling through the titles until you find ones that sounds of interest to your search. Click on the title to read the abstract.
Once you have located articles of interest, make note of the citation
Exclude dissertations (the peer-review option should screen these out)
Avoid using a review article or a meta-analysis as one of your two papers-they take a bit more work to “decipher”
You will need this to find the actual article
Note: some articles are available online. You will usually see the PDF option on that search
results screen or when you click on the title to read the abstract. If this is an option, save it
and/or print the article so that you have it.
However, if the article is not available online, you will have to go to the library to find the actual print article and make a copy of it. If you need help finding anything, ask the librarians-that is what they are there for.
If we do not have access to it, find another article because Interlibrary Loan can take a while… sorry.
Finalizing your articles
If you are having a difficult time limiting your search (your search is too broad), ask your
groups members and/or your TA
If you are having a difficult finding anything (your search is too narrow), also ask your groups
members and/or your TA
Make sure you read the abstracts to see if these articles are close to what you are looking for…
when you have found one…
Find the complete article
Read the complete article (hopefully it is still what you are looking for)
If it is not what you were looking for, keep searching.
Complete the article summary page to turn in with your article.
When completing these, highlight portions of the abstract/article where you are pulling the
relevant information for the summary sheet.
Try paraphrasing this information for the article summary sheet-as you will need this for the
Introduction section of your paper
AFter you find the article, you will have to summarize for each article -
